Here is the list of current batting averages going into the SEC. These stats are hard to find all together once we get into conference play and its good to be able to look back on where they were and if they improve into SEC play.

    Caglianone, Jac------ .408
    Heyman, Luke-------- .406
    Rivera, Josh---------- .388
    Riopelle, BT---------- .338
    Prevesk, Matt-------- .333
    Thomas, Dale-------- .333
    Shelnut, Tyler-------- .319
    Robertson, Michael-- .306
    Lastres, Rene-------- .300
    Evans, Ty------------- .273
    Halter, Colby--------- .263
    Schiekofer, Richie--- .250
    Fabian, Deric--------- .235
    Talbott, Tucker------ .000

I'm hoping Colby Halter has a big weekend. He's seeing the ball really well of late and has a ton of experience against SEC-quality pitching (as does Rivera, of course). Time for Riopelle to start unleashing some power, too.

Great commentary and you are definitely not blabby I would say more like thorough which we appreciate for sure.

Looks like Nesbitt good for weekend for sure.

Again, the little things Rivera does that might not show up in the box score like his walk that got it all started. Previous hitters have been very impatient jumping at pitches and Josh worked a walk and got the rally started. Defense has been really solid also.

I have never seen a Gator player improve more in 1 year with plate discipline than Josh Rivera. If this continues, his MLB draft stock will take a major leap, IMO.

Staying away from the arms that threw Tuesday, I'm hoping we see some combo of Sproat, Abner, Slater, and Fisher. If we only have to use three of these that's all the better. Of all our pitchers, this is a most important game for Sproat to step up and nail down the top spot and hopefully pitch like we saw coming into the season. I would assume, not think, that Sully hopes he starts the 6th at least and goes from there. Ultimately a top pitcher in the SEC should expect to make it to the 7th and beyond, but I feel we are still working to that point with our starters. It also depends if Bama wants to run up the pitch count to test our pen. Look for Sproat to get into an early rhythm and Alabama to keep him out of any rhythm.
I see Fisher as our best option as closer on Thursday, Neely on Friday, and Fisher for Game 3 if its Friday, and either on Saturday. Abner is probably more of a floater for whatever days he's needed. Also I look for Hartzog to come in if we really need a strikeout or two to get out of a jam. So far Hartzog has faced 14 batters getting 10 strikeouts, 2 hits, and 2 walks. That's the highest number of strikeouts to batters faced ratio on the team.

I would go with Kurland. That is if Robertson can find away on base. It wil force Tide pitching to be a little more conservative or at least effect pitchers focus. It will also force them to try to get Kurland out with Jack standing over in on deck circle.(They don't want 2 base runners with Cags at plate) Kurland does not chase bad pitching much and squares up alot of balls hard.(I know he had rough game on Tue) Bama will focus on keeping fastballs in on Cags(if they smart) and alot of off-spead low stuff to neutralize his long ball. Also look for B.T. to have a good series.

Let's see, SEC Pitcher of the Week and maybe the whole nation. I'd say that's more like him nailing down the top spot like we saw him pitch before the season.
    Any questions......

A few stats that were impacted by the 3-0 win over Alabama tonight.
    1. Our team batting average is now .339 down from .348. Sure its just one game but our in conference batting average is only .115, Bama only .037.
    2. Robertson is second on the team in walks with 15, one behind Rivera. Robertson is third among active players in OB% at .471. Yes I wish he could hit his way on more often but he is getting on base and did score the winning run tonight, thanks to Kurland
    3. The Schiek is now down to .222 BA and should sit on Friday. Hopefully Fabian (.235) and Prevesk (.333) will get a chance.
    4. Riopelle leads in SOs with 20 and Evans is one back at 19. It was huge for Evans to get another swing tonight by the foul tip called by the ump and he topped one into the ground scoring Rivera from third. I was concerned he would get another strikeout at the worst time. @gatorjjh stayed sure he would drive him home, so he says.
    5. The only pitching stats are Sproat's. His ERA dropped to 2.73 and his WHIP is down to .88. The batting average of hitters faced is a team leading .126.
