Gator Baseball 2023 Official Roster Tracker/Lineup???

Barring one of them going into a massive slump, I think the first 6 in the batting order is getting close to being set. Kurland, Langford, Caglionone, Rivera, Riopelle, Evans. The final 3 spots will probably be adjusted and tweaked for a while.

 

Was thinking exactly the same when he got thrown out by Miami. As u say, a lot more to base stealing than raw speed. When my son was in HS, he led the team in steals, but was far from the fastest player.

Good news is the kid is still young and has plenty of up side.

 

Best hitter on UF is Langford so what exactly is your point?

 

not by the stats, Kurland is. My point is Langford in 1 hole forces teams to pitch to him a tad more in the 1st inn. Right now teams are pitching around him, only to throw Cags a FB down the middle. So put Kurland 2nd and Cags 3rd. Langford on base will force pitchers to focus not on Kurland as much and I believe our 1,2,3 could be even more leathal.
To those saying its working like it is, It is not in the first inn. 2 for 13 is not so hot. (langford was 8 for 10 laast year in his first games as lead off and in much stiffer competition) Put Robinson in 9 hole because he is getting on base better down the lineup. Then he comes up in front of Langford later in games. Also in tight games Kurland in 2 hole I believe has best chance to move langford over be it a hit or Im sure he can bunt him over for Cags

 

I get where you are trying to come from but Langford is the best overall hitter on the team. Why not have the best hitter, Kurland, by your standard hit in front of Langford? I think you are putting a little too much focus on the first at bat of the game stats.

 

Slater was horrible his first inning, then gave 2 good innings. Nic Fic was pretty good tonight. Neely just doesn't look like a closer to me. Takes a special breed to fill that role. Time will tell, but time is running out to figure it out.

 

While I agree that it’s a big load to put on a freshman it appears that Cade Fisher is much more composed and has himself under control when he is in this role.

 

There were some saying Josh had a really good shot at hitting 15 HR this season and he has a realistic shot at exceeding that.
Kurland’s power has surprised me.

 

I would have taken the under and felt extremely confident with the decision lol. Glad to see the way he has stepped his game up this year.

 

If you’d watched him swinging the bat in the spring practices, you would have been hesitant to take that bet.

At the end of last season, I think I would have been right there with you though.

I have not seen a comment on this yet, but last year it seemed like everyone on the team tried to pull the ball no matter the location. Rivera and both of the Fabian's were the ones that stood out to me most, but it was up and down the line up. This year it seems like we hit it where it is pitched much better. I think Rivera has benefited greatly from this.

 

Agree. Until this year, Josh always swung at a lot of balls outside the strike zone and got regularly fooled by sliders. This year he's much more disciplined and acts like he's seeing the ball a lot better. Riopelle as well. He still strikes out some, but it looks like he not trying to hit everything out of the park and is more willing to hit it where it's pitched and get some singles to help the team.

Travel more and consciously go oppo. He’s always had it in him. As a big supporter I would have felt 15 and 50 were easily obtainable this year. A year really does make a big difference.
