Again, great points in your post 77–

I think that the one thing you said for me that sticks out the most is
    Lots of options.

More options for Coach O' than I can remember in a lot time. With all the talent competing for playing time, leadership, attitude and what goes on in the locker room and dugout will be key this year, IMO.

I saw an interview last month where he said he was 16 months into his recovery.

74, what the time frame you've said is recommended for TJ rehab.

For true “power” guys (starters) back to full tilt game speed the time frame has proven to be at the 24 month window…..

He’s throwing now and will continue to do so building his endurance and longevity strength as long as there are no setbacks—the process is simply called “getting your work in”.

That includes everything from the PT side, to soft toss to long toss to short boxes to full bullpens to simulated games to actual live intersquad games to live games vs other teams.

It’s all a long grueling process of breaking scar tissue up to regain not only the strength, stamina, and endurance where you were before surgery, but understanding that you tore it up as good as it was and now your goal is to get yourself stronger than before.

A tip of my cap to every pitcher/player that puts himself through this difficult rehab to come back better than ever.

Cags was hitting 97mph on Saturday and FB consistently in 94-96 range. If he has more pop to go- he will be outstanding. Plus, I like his pitching style in command, throws strikes and is quick- no fussing around. Get the ball, get the sign, throw.

    77–

For me those numbers are outstanding at this point in his 16th month of rehab.

The keys to watch for me are not just top or reached velocities—his ability to maintain the consistency of the three C’s—Command, Control, and Confidence. (Which it sounds like he’s on track).

His ability for his body to rebound between starts and stay strong is key. Everything I see points Cags in the right direction.

Really glad to figure out I will be at the scrimmage tomorrow. I hope I get a surprise appearance by Coppola but I'm not holding my breath. Hopefully someone is at today's scrimmage with some intel.

74, Thanks for these astute observations base on your experiences- always good to have your insights.. Sully will likely bring him along slowly at the start of the season-- 4-5 innings with pitch count of 75 tops? The potential is there no doubt and the guy is a hoss. Hoping for a major contribution at bat and on the mound. Now, fingers crossed for Coppola.

87, Glad you can make the scrimmage tomorrow- I cannot but should be able to on weekend. Not sure what the pitching rotation is as we have no intel as in years past but would be great to see Pierce ou there. Likely Cags and Neely tomorrow so would appreciate your take on their command and velo. Thanks and enjoy!
