The SEC is brutal and a grind. A lot depends on the health of the players, the way the young guys blend with the veterans, the dugout comraderie and if the leadership that emerges keeps the team on the same page throughout the season. No doubt this team has the talent and potential to win it all. But we've had plenty of those kinds of teams before without producing the results that lesser teams achieved.

Another good suggestion as always 74. I like it even more because it sets us up for 2024 with Coppola and Neely as our top two arms as weekend starters.

I get it's the off-season, but not really concerned about the rotation yet. Just excited to have several excellent options once again. Been awhile.

Okay try it this way. It's been 207 days since our last game of the 2022 season.
    Better?

Good to see UF baseball using an image of Deric Fabian again. Hoping his facial injury has healed up by now. I haven't heard any update since the injury. Is him wearing number 23, his normal number, a sign that we are 23 days (now 22 days) away from the first day of spring practice???

    Simple article on the team.
    Florida baseball preseason Q&A
Lots that I agree with but I'm shocked that Jacob shows Deric Fabian the starter at first. This is Cags every day, other than when he is pitching.

I don't think anyone knows really who will start at a couple of positions. I do believe that Rivera at SS and Halter at 3rd are givens, as well as Riopelle at C and Langford in the OF. Other than that, much depends on the health and progress of some of the players and how they fare in fall competition. I would bet that the opening day lineup will not be the same one that opens SEC play and I'm glad there will be a lot of competition for playing time, as it should make all of them more focused and better in the long run. And I hope Deric Fabian makes a major leap from freshman to sophomore and wins a starting position somewhere - he's a homeboy!

Shelnut certainly has a shot. He played third when Halter sat out the end of fall and showed he can hit. He struggled on a few throws that I saw in scrimmages. Thomas was a better fielder and better arm but the freshman Kurland got the most time at second because of his bat. Shelnut could easily end up the DH on many nights. The main thing to remember, Sully's got several options if needed.

LOL, I should have been more clear. I was looking to see how he was progressing on his recovery.

Can anyone confirm if the first day of practice is on January 27th? I believe its usually the last Friday of January.
