Can you confirm the Saturday times? I wouldn't think they go at 1130PM lol. But any time will be tough with a huge gameday crowd using parking over there.

I don't see Coppola in the pitching rotation. I thought he was back?

I got on here for any news from today. You might be our only source. A good general rule at practice to follow is when in doubt ask a scout.

With no other info that I could find from the Saturday practice, I figured this is better than nothing...

Reading through the names you listed Matherly it does look like a promising group of pitchers.

As it turns out I'm not able to go Tuesday so I'm going up to catch the shorter scrimmage scheduled for today at 4 pm. My guess it will only go 4 innings. I'm not going to watch the pitchers but mainly check the lineups with the fielders to see if any changes and then observe the hitters. I certainly hope FInnvold, Ursitti, Jameson and Purnell do well but with no starters on the mound I expect Sully to cut some innings short if they struggle getting outs. I'll drop some notes later but it will be much shorter than most. Hopefully the football fans have gotten over Saturday and will get on board early with this team with loads of potential.

Will you be able to do a report when Coppola is scheduled to pitch?

I really want to see him pitch. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get away and have the time to make the drive up there. Just like today, I was all set to go then life happened and now I'm back at home instead of in Gainesville. I'm still hopeful about Thursday but Coppola is not scheduled.

SCRIMMAGE NOTES Tuesday 10/18 (very partial)
Finally able to get to BallPark for 3+ innings with our elite pitchers tossing- Sproat for Blue, Waldrep for Orange. Both looked reasonably sharp- Waldrep throwing in the 94-96 range topping at 97 with pretty good movement on cutter and changeup. Sproat upper 90s consistently seemingly with ease and good movement.
Orange scored first with the best solid contact- by Langford- sharp lead off single to left; after that it was swinging bunt single by Kurland and an oppo seeing eye double bounced over 3rd by Cags -- before Sproat shut it down striking out Thomas, Halter and getting an easy 6-3 on Heyman.
Waldrep started out 2nd with K of Shelnut , before Rivera ripped a liner to RC and legged it into a triple- very good hustle; Prevesk next lined a sharp liner single scoring Rivera before Waldrep got the final two outs.
Third inning uneventful- 1-2-3 for both pitchers except that Waldrep struck out the side- Robertson Evans, Riopelle.
I had to go after the 3rd but as I was leaving the Park- Shelnut hit a rocket off Tejeda into RC Disney Grove- likely about 410' or so.
Hoping to get back to the Park before too long.

Much thanks and a good report. Sproat sounds like he is building some consistency. Sounds like you saw the same movement that I did on day one. I felt his biggest improvement to last year. Sproat got in trouble last time but came thru and shut it down only giving up a run. That's a good trait to have as a starting pitcher as you know.
Just wondering did you happen to see any nice plays by either of our two second basemen?
EDIT - check that, I see from bturner's report that Fabian was at second and Thomas was over at third. Sully must have been shuffling the lineup.

I was at practice today along with Gatorgal. I'll add most of my comments to her post that will make better sense with her recap. But I will say it was a an up and down kind of day for the pitchers. Seemed like each of them would get into trouble one inning and then go mostly clean the next. That's fall ball for ya. One nugget for you though I would say the best hitter at the plate was Schiekofer.

Here's another booster fix for @gatorfan5220 to help hold him over. The only well hit ball at Thursday's practice was a one hopper by Schiekofer to the right center fence for a standup double. There were a few other well placed balls that were fair along the lines but Schiekofer was the only one that looked like it might go out. Halter hit one deep but it hooked foul.

I was a little surprised he fell as far as he did but my guess is his relatively low K rate is the reason (that or signability of course…). The article mentioned his plus slider but it isn’t “plus” in my opinion. His two seamer has become special. I love the movement he has added to his fastball while maintaining the velocity. If he gets his slider more into a plus position, he will be special imo. And I would have thought a pro team would see him and say, “A little more spin and this guy could be really good.”

Looking forward to his year. I hope like heck it works out for him.
