I am a big Brandon fan. I love the image of him repeatedly telling Sully “no” when Sully wanted to pull him late in a game. Central Michigan? South Carolina? I can’t remember which game. Terrific stuff.

I've been doing some thinking about the weekend rotation and I hope that either Coppola, Abner, Caglianone, or even Finnvold, all LHP, can somehow crack the rotation of Sproat, Neely, and Waldrep, all RHP. Its going to be tough but a few of them may have a chance. Either way we should be in much better shape with plenty more options than last year. I also really like all the returning relievers we have as well. Some of them were successful early in the season and some of them came on late. I just hope as many of them as possible get it dialed in so Sully has plenty of reliable arms to go to when needed.

Loaded pitching staff for sure. I think Sully will find a way to have at least one lefty involved in the top 4-5 guys.

I'm hoping Coppola is healed and back by Spring- as he looked outstanding in scrimmages and in his start before the back injury flared up again. But my concern is that lower back issues tend to plague many tall pitchers so it may be recurring issue if it's not been fully resolved.

The info that I am hearing about our pitching is that, before Sproat came back, our coaches were thinking Caglianone might be our Friday night starter. They believe he is going to be better than Neely or Waldrep. From that I figured he must be doing very good with his recovery and all the HS hype we were hearing is true. So we might have 4 starters ready for three spots. If so this really does create a conundrum at the Condron.

Even better, we can mix up the R-L-R arms a little more when needed. Looking into all the pitching possibilities, I wonder who will end up our closer? If we can find that Michael Byrne in the mist of all the relievers we have, it makes this coming year even better.

It all changes when you suit up in your big boy unis and walk to the bump in front of 8,000 fans. Time will tell. Waldrep has been on the big stage and performed well. I would be shocked to see him beat him out. As far as Sproat, I would be shocked not to see him as the Friday guy.

For the first 2-3 months, I agree wholeheartedly. By May/June, who knows. My biggest concern with Cags is next year is potentially A LOT of innings. I would much rather see him brought along like Faedo where he doesn’t see the weekend until April-ish if he is worthy.

Can you imagine if Sproat,Waldrep, Neely, Caglianone and Coppola, or someone else shows up as a competent weekend starter? Talk about being able to throw a great arm during a long SEC or NCAA tournament! So excited to see how it shakes out.

Jac makes baseball look easy, but even with that going from missing a whole season with an injury to Friday night starter for someone who's never pitched in college is a pretty big stretch. That almost feels like an unfair ask from the coaches.
