Lastres is one I am very curious about. He supposedly has a very good bat. He still won’t be full speed with his arm but he will be slightly ahead of Cags meaning hitting is a go if he wants.

I feel Sproat tends to gain quite a bit by coming back… He has an arm that is extremely fresh with not many innings on it and it is more than live. Think of the kid from Oklahoma who popped up a draft board with their run to the World Series… I see the same thing happening for Brandon.

IF he stays healthy he tends to have an unbelievable upside or shoot up the draft boards.

i’ve talked to several people who I consider extremely knowledgeable and they agree that his offspeed stuff and the strides he made this year with the off speed stuff separates him from 98% of the rest.
I will admit his ability to throw the change up and slider this year at high-levels surprised the heck out of me. If you don’t think he made major strides this year with his offspeed stuff I would respectfully disagree

Parada signed - reportedly for $24K over slot. Not a massive amount over slot so Mets may have the flexibility to up the offer for Sproat. One comment on Mets chat site wrote that Mets offer was around $900k- which seems like total BS. We shall see by tomorrow at 5PM EDT.

Lastres was the highest rated catcher in Florida in 2021 and top 4 in country. He can hit and has a rifle for an arm- sadly TJ surgery- I believe the culprit is the accumulated strain on his arm doing double duty in travel ball-as he was also a pitcher with heat-- 91mph. I think he will DH for most of 2023.

Sort of. When gators needed more pitching they had lastres do a bullpen. That’s where he hurt his arm. But I realize it’s more wear and tear than just that one instance.

Something to ponder as we get ready for fall....

    Back - Langford, Wyatt .355
    Gone - Thompson, Sterlin .354
    Back - Riopelle, BT .304
    Back - Lastres, Rene .333
    Back - Talbott, Tucker .316
    Back
    - Caglianone, Jac .288
Gone - De Goti, Jorge .286
    Back - Rivera, Josh .254
    Back - Evans, Ty .242
    Back - Halter, Colby .240
    Gone - Fabian, Jud .239
    Gone - Guscette, Mac .238
    Gone? - Armstrong, Kris .230
    Back - Fabian, Deric .218

Its good to see most of the better batting averages are back and more of the less than better are gone. Still waiting on word from Calilao and Armstrong.

Surprised that Talbott is back. He seems a good contact hitter and for whatever reason he gets few reps. He must like UF and the experience very much to not have hit the portal- I'm sure he could start for many teams. Hope he gets more chances in 2023.

Is that right? Had not heard that that is how he got hurt. Seems he should be pretty pissed off over it.

You only have to kill 6 hours. Top options include:
    - Die Hard Trilogy (the 4th and 5th, eh…)
    - Obi Wan Kenobi series
    - A twelve pack and fishing
    - Re-watch the 2017 series against LSU in Omaha
    - Have lunch, take a nap, go for a walk, start prepping dinner.

    I like option 3 myself.

Great options, my choice is option 4 while doing option 5. I've already finished option 2.

Thank you. Without Kris and Kendrick, that leaves 10 of the above with a C in BT and all the IF positions, then 4 for OF, with one extra. DH could be rotated. The weak points of the above, based solely on what's been produced, are Deric Fabian who is not hitting in Cape Cod and Matt Prevesk who only showed .200 last yr. We need some of those 240-250 guys to get to 275-285.

We also need some pitching which is a whole new topic.

Pitching might be more than solved in just under 4 hours unless the Mets pull it off.
