Well here is some interesting info to pass along.
I'm hearing Rivera is most likely coming back and there's a chance Sproat could be back. His asking price might be too high for the draft interests. So unless he is willing to come down keep an eye on his draft position. Hold tight, I guess could start to clear up a week from now.

Josh coming back would be big. His defense would be m it safe for sure. If he can work a little more to contact he could play himself into a pretty decent draft spot.

I could totally see Sproat coming back, i don’t know if his asking price is to high or if he is just betting on himself. If Sproat pitches like he did the last 6 starts all year next year as the Friday night guy he will be a first rounder, So if you believe in yourself it makes sense to ask for First round money. If someone gives it to you then you go pro if they do not then you come back and try to earn it. I think Sproat and Jud have the same agent.

Sproat is rated in the low 100s from what I have seen. That is late 3rd/early 4th round. He stands to make A LOT of money if he comes back and there are a number of pitchers that move through the minors very quickly (Mize and Crochet jump out).

I actually think Sproat lost a ton of money by UF losing when they did. Him pitching 2-3 more games like he had been pitching might have made him look like Cade Horton. Cade Horton is where he is in the draft projection because OU got hot and gave him the opportunity to pitch on some massive stages. At least imo.

All this said, I would think Barco’s surgery scares him a bit and he signs. Prelippe, Sims, and others were destined to be first rounders and TJ got that derailed.

    Greg—

I completely understand the sentiment here but from my perspective no pitcher is going to make a decision based on the possibility of an injury—you just can’t play the game that way.

I also believe that Brandon needs to weigh his options as he moves forward.

Coming back and having a lights out year would obviously be just like you draw it up.

Obviously time will tell and I’m sure we all would like to both see him make the Gators shine and have a fantastic professional career.

There is also the fact that this may be a rumor started by his agent to make clubs think he is willing to go back to school, so they have more negotiating power

    72–

That is exactly the leverage for returning back to school.

And he has a covid year, I believe, just like Jud. So he has two years of negotiating power, like Jud did last year.

With Xavier Isaac drafted in the 1st Round, I wonder who will be the backup 1st baseman when Cags goes to the mound? I wonder if Shelnut has ever played 1st or do we put a catcher over there like BT Riopelle if he returns or the freshman Heyman.

With Sproat going number 90 in the draft makes me wonder if there is any chance he stays might be down the drain. Is $691K enough to make Sproat happy, I think not so let's see how the negotiations go from here.

If you are drafted in the Top 10 rounds, you sign. Period.

There are like 8 exceptions each year out of 350ish draftees.
The Mets wouldn’t have drafted him if they didn’t think they could meet some number.

Has anyone heard anything where any of these ended up? They might be a late draftee but most likely end up transfers.

Wonder if there was some requirement for Barco/Sproat to leave??

    Kind of strange timing otherwise.
