Me too on the tweaks. Right now Guscette is dialed in. Put him at catcher and BT at DH as BT struggling a but defensively.
    Armstrong needs consistent at bats.
Deric’s upside is huge but right now he needs a break.

Hoping Coppola not done for year.

Thinking a freshman like Mikey Robertson could help if healthy. Gives us speed we haven’t seen in a while.

I get all of frustrations with regards to all of the issues with our team’s abilities to play the game with command and confidence. Some of the issues I have read reasonable options to try.

I don’t think for a minute that we as fans have thought of any solutions or options that Sully and staff haven’t hashed over as well.

I think you’re wasting your effort to expect Coppola back at this point. Sully hasn’t mentioned a word about him to my knowledge in weeks- we just can’t mess around with back issues with a player like him with a probable bright future down the road IMHO. If he was deemed fit right now it would take the rest of the season to get his strength, stamina, and game legs back under him.

Deric Fabian was Florida's Mr. Baseball last year and obviously has tons of talent. But he seems to have hit a wall in his freshman year and would probably benefit from watching a few games from the dugout. Kris Armstrong was one of our most consistent hitters last year and is used to facing quality SEC pitching. I hope he's inserted into the lineup soon. Hitting ebbs and flows and it's always been defense and pitching that have been the consistent mainstays of Kevin O'Sullivan teams. This year just seems weird to me because the roster is loaded with highly touted recruits who, as a group, just have not found their way. You would think with as many quality arms as we have that a few of them would be ready to go and could be counted on regularly. And several have show flashes, but not the consistency you would expect from classes that are rated in the Top 5 year in and year out. Where is our Logan Shore, who was just plugged in on Friday night as a true freshman and gave a good outing every week for 3 years?

Great comment on Kris Armstrong, that prompted me to check your premise on last year. KA's overall average last year was .289 but his SEC batting average was .314 in 70 ABs. That shows he was one of the few batters on the team to increase his average in SEC play. And again this year KA has a .250 overall average but in SEC play he is batting .300. It makes you wonder what's going on when we currently have 3 starters batting under .185 in SEC play.

Been kindly saying it for a few games now about DF and Kris. Mentioned Sully’s doghouse in relation to not getting in it and wondering if there’s not 1-2 in it.

Calilao isn't hitting well, but he plays defense much better than any other possible 1B. Riopelle plays adequately well at 1B. If Mac is catching and there's a hot bat option. Maybe that option will be Armstrong at some future date. If the frosh or Talbot get some at bats it may be one of them. Today, only Deric is playing so badly- hitting and fielding- that he should sit. For now, I favor either keeping Calilao at 1B, moving Halter to 3B and Thompson to 2B and a frosh to RF. Maybe Riopelle to 1B and a frosh to DH. A little extra hitting and scoring will only help if we have much better pitching.

Not trying to get my hopes up but Arkansas hasn't played that many decent teams. In SEC play they have played Kentucky and Miss State at home and Missouri on the road. Early season they did play #6 Stanford and lost 6-0. They have also lost to teams such as Illinois State (Fri) and Southeastern (Fri). Unfortunately they just lost today to Miss State so they will be ticked off when they get here. Hopefully not as ticked off as our guys should be.

Let me preface first…..Get by Bethune, as every win will count and we will need 32-33 to get into tourney.
    Arkansas-
No dominating pitcher. Their Friday night guy Noland is 4-1 w 3.05 era. Solid but not dominant.
They all hit pretty well but no monster star. “Big Shot” Bobby Moore only at 245. Lanzili a stud but not like Georgia’s lead off guy. Their 2 and 3 are good but not dominant and lack pinpoint control like Noland.
At home w Barco on the mound….. must win hoping for a monster crowd nextThursday night. Win the first one and we can rebuild our mojo. Sproat Coming off of his best performance could be huge in helping us take that second game. But first, we will have to win Thursday night. Win that game Thursday night and I say anything can happen. I would not beshocked at all to see us take two of three from Arkansas next weekend.

One other thing I would say Arkansas‘s nonconference is nothing special and as bad as things are going right now most of us forget we took a series from a very good Miami team and have already beat Florida State once. Those wins will be huge in a committee’s eyes.

Weather.com shows an 87% chance of thunderstorms for Thursday, then cooling down on Friday for great weather thru the weekend. I wonder if this whole weekend will just get backed up for a Fri/Sat/Sun as normal.

Pretty sure we play Florida A&M Tuesday, Not Bethune. As Matherly said, Thursday may be a rainout, so it could end up a regular Fri/Sat/Sun series. I'm not too concerned about our ability to score some runs against Arkansas. The issue is can the bullpen do anything to hold them down the last 4-5 innings?

Okay FAMU, doesn’t change what I said. One game at a time and win.
Against Arkansas, Barco and Sproat do their jobs and pen should need to go 2 innings and maybe 3 on Friday.

We may get to see the teams square off in a sliding competition on the tarp if the weather goes as predicted….

But it is a weather prediction so there’s always hope!

Today's Weather Underground is now showing the Thursday rain ending around 4 pm, so maybe they will get to play.

Something strange in the twitter post, it shows Brandon Neely in the picture obviously but then has Nick Pogue in the links above. Usually they list the link to the person in the photo but there is no link for Neely. Maybe it means Pogue will get some time as well if all goes as planned.

Honestly, I haven’t had to guess this much for a UF pitching staff ever.

    Greg—

We had a guy on our staff in Tallahassee that will remain nameless but when he would leave the dugout heading to the pen you could always hear from the stands “Don’t give up yet Coach, we got 4 innings left”…
