Gator Baseball 2022 Roster/Lineup/Batting Order

Hey 87, Thanks for this update and analysis. I had hoped to stop in today for the scrimmage with real baseball action but not to be... We need to ask whomever is handling UF baseball comms. to let us know when scrimmages will take place like they have in past years- not much to ask.

Meet the Gators: Jac Caglianone

Caglianone joins the Orange and Blue as a FACA All-American and two-time all-state honoree at Plant High School, having batted .371 with three home runs while pitching to a 2.44 ERA with 65 strikeouts across 37.1 innings as a senior.

The next featured newcomer in Florida's 2021 Meet the Gators series is freshman left-handed pitcher/first baseman Jac Caglianone out of Plant High School in Tampa, Fla. As a talented two-way player, Caglianone will wear No. 14 for the Gators.

Recently ranked as the No. 1 recruiting class in the country by Perfect Game, Florida's 2021 incoming class features 16 freshmen and one four-year college transfer. Individually, Caglianone comes to the Orange and Blue as the No. 33 overall recruit in the nation on top of being the No. 6 player and No. 1 left-handed pitcher in Florida.


During his prep career at Plant, Caglianone starred as a four-year letterwinner under coaches Dennis Braun and Dave Parra. As a senior, Caglianone led the team with a .371 batting average while posting three home runs, one triple and four doubles across 70 at bats. On the mound, the southpaw was even more dominant, firing 37.1 innings of 2.44 ERA ball with two saves and 65 strikeouts – good for 15.7 strikeouts per nine innings.

Plant: Is that the same school as Faedo?

 

Faedo was from Alonso.
Tucker and Pete Alonso were from Plant.

 

Too bad that an injury will keep him out of the upcoming season.

If Pogue is fully recovered, he could be a possibility for Saturday or Sunday. I was hoping Tim Manning would take a big step forward, but agree that some of the freshmen are going to be thrown into the fire early.
