Game Threads In Swamp Gas

Just our annual reminder when a new football season kicks off:

From the time the TV announcers begin to talk before kickoff until the officials walk off the field when they say the game is over (and our Post-Game Discussion thread starts), please keep all posts and comments in the Official Game Threads (OGTs) posted. That's Gator games and other games of interest that have been posted for everyone.

Whether it's about the TV announcers, the officials, the coaches, the players, the bands, the fans in the stands, the parking lot, or whatever, again keep it all in the OGTs that have been posted once TV coverage begins to when the officials leave. Experience has shown in the past that when side threads begin about something, it just encourages more, and dupe threads because of all the clutter that they can bring to more than Page 1 and the OGT that has been set up, gets ignored. So, one Game Thread per game.

Now if it gets close to a Kickoff time on a game you might think may be of interest to others, go ahead and post it if you like to do so IF you do not see we've already had it posted. @Bazza posts a few each week for us all. Just a good idea to check maybe more than Page 1. Sometimes other game threads posted can fall back a page or two before their kickoff begins and attention on the game begins to, of course, pick up.

In your posts, you can disagree or dislike (if you have skin in the game) but supporting or not supporting a coach is not a reason to take shots at an insult.

 

For the last 16 years or so, RayGator has diligently created our game threads. I would guess without looking it up he has done somewhere around 150 of these. Never had to be reminded, if it was game week Ray did his game thread.

This week marks a change in that. Ray will do some of our games, but his health is not where he would like it to be so he is going to enter semi-retirement on GC. He will do some of our big games but will take it easy for the weeks that are not are "big" games.

Each week (or starting weeks before the game) Ray would go to his neighborhood Publix (with WiFi) and do the threads on his Ipad. He had a tech person that help him master doing the work needed to build the thread (a person he calls the young guy). There is a special forum created from him that we call the Holding forum. That is where the game threads rest until he moves them Den and Swamp Gas.

I like Ray, I consider him a personal friend, who has been here and available for many years. In the days gone by he would cut articles from the Lakeland Ledger and mail them to me so I could see Gator news from his area.

Please give Ray your regards and good thoughts. He is not leaving us but I am sure he will appreciate hearing from you.

In the early years here, Ray would always wear one his many Gator Tee Shirts, and he would put a name tag on the shirt in case he ran into someone from GC. Well, as it would happen, he sat own on the row in front of Solari and that is how they met for the first time...
