GAME THREAD: Louisiana at Marshall, Wednesday 7:30pm on ESPN2

I honestly don't think I have posted here in at least five (5) years or so, maybe more. I was a regular back in the late 90s/early 2000s (when I actually "lived" in Longwood, Florida).

I'm thrilled to see that my GC name and original password still work!

I chose this particular thread because I remember a regular poster named "ThunderingHerdFan" who used to post on Swamp Gas on a regular basis. Is he still around?

 

I can't find that poster in the system.

 

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns will look to get back on track when they take on the Marshall Thundering Herd in a Sun Belt Conference matchup on Wednesday evening. The game will be a crossover between the East Division Thundering Herd (3-2, 0-1) and West Division Ragin' Cajuns (2-3, 0-2). Marshall, which joined the league this year, is coming off a 28-7 win over Gardner-Webb on Oct. 1. Meanwhile, Louisiana has dropped three in a row, including a 20-17 setback against South Alabama on Oct. 1. Both teams had a bye last weekend.

Kickoff from Joan C. Edwards Stadium in Huntington, W.V., is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Marshall is averaging 29.4 points per game, while Louisiana averages 25.6. The Thundering Herd are 10.5-point favorites in the latest Louisiana vs. Marshall odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over/under for total points scored is set at 46.

 

Chad Pennington's son is a freshman QB for Marshall and will likely redshirt according to the announcers who must be Pennington's cousins. LOL!

 

Fsu will host The Rajun Cajuns a week b4 the Florida Gators come to Tallycrappie.

 

Big 4th a 4 from the 45 . . . with Louisiana moving the ball OK.

Safety blitz straight up-the-middle untouched and the Louisiana QB almost threw a pick-6.

Louisiana 3-0 with 3:00 left in Q1.

 

End of Q1 . . . Louisiana still leading 3-0 but Marshall driving.

Big fumble near the end of Q1 somehow recovered by 1 Marshall player among 6-7 Louisiana players. LOL!

 

Now Marshall with 4th and very short (1) and a TO to discuss it . . .

 

. . . ball on the 25 or so. Thinking they have to go for it here. Not going to have many chances this deep and they're not that good offensively this season.

 

Big 1st down for Marshall pretty easily.

 

Reverse got maybe 2.

Marshall QB sacked. Never looked comfortable in the pocket to me.

On 3rd and long threw it way OB so now a FG try.

 

Still 3-0 after a 45 yard FG was WIDE left. 12:20 until halftime.

 

3rd and 5 for Louisiana. Marshall selling out to stop the run and could get nailed with play action here.

 

Got exactly that and now Louisiana at mid-field.
