The Falby conundrum continues. I will never understand the logic of making an at bat even more complex by introducing a third moving component to the equation. It’s how and where you contact the ball that determines how difficult it is to defend your speed. Perfect the bunt and your ability to split the gaps, depending upon what the defense does. The step you gain with slapping is more often than not a trade off with loss of control over the ball. JMHO and what seems to be evident with Falby’s current slump.

She is 3rd all time for UF as a hitter, but you would fix her hitting.

I actually had to go in and pull it up on the ESPN app as for whatever reason it just kept showing me NFL live repeats or something. It was on my phone so maybe that had something to do with it.

I would just say that her accomplishments are testament to how talented she is, despite saddling herself with the task of trying to gain a step with the slap. In competitive sports, as with so many other things in life, the challenges aren’t static. Not only have teams figured out a plan for her technique, but the competition has strengthened as we’ve progressed through the season, and more so into the championship stages. She deserves every chance to shine in this post season run, and I was simply expressing my opinion on what might help her get back on track. She sits at the most crucial spot in our line up, and it would be great to get her on base more, so 2-3-4 can move her around.

MCB51 isn't an insomniac. Wait till noon and check the time stamp on your post. The time stamps on posts are off by three hours. Just a Boomer guess, but I've always assumed it's based on where the server GC uses is located.

Exactly...my times have often been "off" I have seen many post at all hours...and I do know in your profile you have to check and make sure your time zone is correct or hasn't defaulted..I just don't question when people post..each to their own..

Falbys success is undeniable even though it stems from slapping. I would argue that she has made some of her most important hits in a stand up position which I think is better suited with runners on base as opposed to slapping. Maybe next year this can be a point of emphasis for her and work on both depending on situation. I could even see instances when acting like she will slap on first pitch but no contact could draw in the defense then in the same at bat switch to a more power based approach. She has done that at times this year. My question is this: do any players get to hit, or pitch for that matter, the way they want or the way the coach calls in that moment? I love how announcers always imply that a pitcher did a great job mixing her pitches or setting something up when in reality they take a call from the dugout on every pitch...I imagine that is the same for Falby.

It's a radical idea but I'd like to see a requirement that season ticket holders either attend OR PUT THEIR TICKETS IN THE TRANSFER PORTAL AT FACE VALUE for 80% or some number of all games.

Meaning either (1) you attend; (2) you scalp your ticket yourself; or (3) you make your ticket available at face value for UF to resell for you.

We need to get butts in the seats. While making the berm more affordable is a great idea, I think there are some fans who would come if they could get a "good" seat. Sitting on the berm versus watching on TV is a much different equation than sitting in a good seat behind home plate versus watching on TV.

The "good" seats are all sold out to season ticket holders -- at a relatively low price where many can pick/choose what games they attend. Meaning that it's no big deal for a season ticket holder to miss a game and make no effort to sell/transfer the seat.

And yes, I can complain about this since I have attended every game. :)

We play gator softball today I think we win. Just gotta loosen up and play our game. Probably not gonna get to watch today unfortunately. Going to try my best but hoping for the best. These seniors that have made the gap between through these few down years deserve to go out in OKC. These team has been so special I can't see them ending it today.

I would never criticize Kendra who will go down as one of our best all around ball players at UF. She puts a big smile on my face every time she hits one past the infielders or bloops one over their heads. But I think the play that you refer to also had me scratching my head as well. I believe it was game one against Baylor. With two strikes Kendra took a stride toward first base and the pitcher nailed the outside corner. Kendra reached back for the ball but her bat was a good foot or more from reaching the ball. I remember thinking what the heck. It’s part of the slapper technique that I don’t understand. Unless you are fortunate enough to get an inside pitch there’s not a whole lot the batter can do to make contact. To Kendra’s credit she mixes up her at bats well, with an occasional bunt, a slap, and often swings for power in the gaps. Let’s hope she adjusts to the Baylor defense and sets the table every time up today.
