You maybe correct, but it has moved closer to a statistical quantity than it was just a couple years ago and if left unchecked will continue to roll. We dont have to let everything become a bigger problem before we address it, wouldnt you agree?

And losing to the A's has me grumpy so beware. :D

I’m not implying anything, and now you’re saying her running faster than boys in high school doesn’t count unless it was in a state championship. You’ve lost this argument .

Basically we have to let everything become a big deal and let the toothpaste out of the tube before we pushback is basically your position.

But this is happening more often and we are going to see more of it. (Trans athletes in Sports). It needs to be settled now before it cant be later.

This isnt about not letting them live their lives, or bigotry to many, its about fairness and equality that women shouldnt have to start fighting for yet again.

Lol. I assume the woman in the olympics should race men then, or just stick to girly activities?

Lets just shut down the USWNT or the WNBA too. They should stick to girly things since they can't compete with men.

Venus and Serena can't beat Federer or Nadal, Federer or Joker. Guess they are scared.

You should head out to Pressly stadium and mock those girls who arent over at Condron hitting a 93 MPH splitty.

First off watch your language with me. Second the debate was that girls could never compete and win against boys, but I’ve witnessed it in my own family. Finally I have no doubt our softball players could hit a 93 mph pitch.

It wasnt big deal before and it still isnt. Trans people arent going to takeover sports, let alone anything. Bigots manufactured a panic, sorry you bought into it.

Like you said, Renee Richards. C&P from before

It is such a big problem. Consider this article from August 31, 1976

She suggests that in determining an athlete's sex all factors be taken into consideration, including chromosomes, bodily characteristics and the psychological state.

“I do not feel that I have an unfair advantage over other women in athletic competition,” said Dr. Richards, who is 6 feet 2 inches tall. The presence of Dr. Richards in a women's competition tends to destroy this balance.

“Women's tennis was originally conceived, as far as we are concerned, ror women tennis players,” said Jerry Diamond, executive director of the Women's Tennis Association. “Do you allow a biologic or genetic male to enter a women's tennis tournament?

“As best as I can gather from the phsysicians I talked to, the muscle structure and the density of the muscle tissue of a male are superior to a female,” he said. “There are biological differences, certain strength and speed advantages that a female doesn't have.”

    nytimes.com/1976/08/31/archives/issue-and-debate-controversy-over-renee-richards-adds-dimension-to.html

Somehow we survived. There was litigation, and she won the right to compete on the women circuit. But Renee Richards did not dominate women's tennis. She was 40 years old when she transitioned, which likely limited her ability to do so, although I'm not aware of any domination even on any senior circuit, presuming such a thing existed or exists.

Just don't know how we survived it without having governors passing legislation.

At the time the Richards controversy was a thing, there was great concern that it was more than a single case. Her example would be a precedent, leading to other biological men seeking gender reassignment or transitioning to gain that competitive advantage.

    It was a big concern.

    It never happened.

Sure we may need to address the still very isolated and almost freakishly rare examples when the situation comes up. Caster Semenya is still the biggest example and that's certainly not someone who chose her path.

As an occasional scenario that may arise that rules need to be drafted for, fine.

As some form of societal phenomenon of any significance, with men seeking an advantage in women's sports by feigning transgender identity or even immersing themselves in it for a competitive edge, I think Renee Richards' example, albeit in a different time, is telling.

In that regard, as in 1975, it's more moral panic than competitive concern.

And to add - "addressing" the "problem" also has a human cost, a calculation which seems to be lost in all this, because the cost impacts those not seen as human

The number of trans youth could triple what it is now and this would still not be even close to a common occurrence. The hemming and hawing over this shit is unbelievable.

Sports governing bodies should, IMO, pass rules to keep it from happening but if they don't want to I couldn't give less of a shit. More than anything, I hope they pass rules about it just so all the rightie snowflakes will shut up about it.

Yes you are. Maybe you should attend some women’s events at the university and then possibly your opinion might change. Then again you’d probably just accuse them of all being transgender.

You are wrong. The number of girls beating boys in HS is extremely small. Your daughter for sure then would've ran track in college being that good. We all know the answer to this lol. Just admit you were wrong and move on.

This is really about the highest level of competition, in which the arguments for any artificial advantage have far greater moral currency, as evidenced by existing regimes having nothing to do with trans issues, i.e., mandatory drug testing.

But let's remember that the distribution of athletic advantages are not "fair"

Standing at 6 feet 4 inches, Phelps has the torso of a man who’s 6 feet 8 inches tall… and the legs of a man 8 inches shorter.

This disproportionately large chest enables Phelps to power himself through the water. It also means his legs produce less drag (or water resistance) with each stroke.

Like many swimmers, Phelps has hyperextended joints — but his double-jointed ankles bend 15 percent more than his rivals. Paired with his size-14 feet, his legs act like flippers, thrusting him through the water.

Phelps is also hyper-jointed in the chest. That means he can kick from his chest instead of just his ribs, giving him more force with each stroke, according to former Olympian Mark Tewksbury.

Researchers have found that Phelps produces half the lactic acid of his competitors. These low levels of lactic acid mean Phelps can recover quickly, which can be especially helpful when pushing through grueling training sessions
