Gaetz vs. McCarthy … Gaetz says he’ll try to oust McCarthy this week

I suspect that is the plan. Democrats will largely vote yes and then vote Jeffries. Most of the 90 Republicans who voted no on the spending bill will vote for McCarthy. But if Gaetz gets 5 of them: McCarthy gives up the Speakership, works a deal with Democrats to vote present, or has to work backroom deals with enough of these Republican Reps to get back to the majority again. And nobody seems to think the first option will happen, as he hasn't hit the "screw these guys, I'm heading home to drink wine" stage of his career yet.

 

Even tough Gaetz is a key leader for maga followers it’s probably good McCartney is showing fortitude and standing up to him.

 

McCarthy has plans of his own wrt Gaetz. Don’t think he’ll have enough support though.

If just GQP members vote to oust him, he's gone. The Dems are unified in removing him.

There are multiple reasons but his going on the Sunday shows to blame Dems for the almost shutdown was the final straw.

 

That's like Joe Biden saying his son Hunter didn't plan on being a dope addict.

Actually I think Gaetz could be governor of Florida by popular demand. No election necessary. (That's how much I think of Florida after Ron DeSantis.)

 

Just needs to keep saying "woke" and he'll win. Maybe if he gets edgy and uses "simp" a few times that will get him some extra votes.

 

The campaign slogan of his opponent could be "Tell us something that we don't know."
