100% agree. We have to flip the table and invest in players and a GM instead of the overpriced coaches w/ obscene buyouts.

Colleges aren’t footing the bill for those buyouts, and there seems to be a never ending line of boosters ready to pay for them. If the boosters started making the colleges eat those costs and stick with their hires, the contracts might change. First one to change is going to have a hard time finding a new coach though.

Good, you watch the NFL, then. It's not what I want for college football. I quit watching the NFL a long time ago, and the only football I like now is college football. It would be a shame to let college football turn into some side show version of the NFL minor-league. Leave well enough alone.

In case you haven't noticed, it already has. Seriously? Where have you been for the last 3 years? And you think it's somehow going to regain that integrity? LOL! That game is dead and gone. Just deal with it.

As for the NFL, I do watch and the beauty is I don't have to choose because one plays on Saturday and the other on Sunday.

I think the term "colleges" was being used generically and not to indicate the actual source of funding. But, you're absolutely right about needing to put an end to the big buyouts. The best way to do this is to stop fishing in the Jimmy Sexton pool. Restructure like an NFL franchise and hire NFL assistant coaches. Most of them don't have agents. There just isn't a need to go "big game hunting" for a new head coach. UF can become relevant again by changing their approach to the game.

Look, dude, I lament the NIL as much as anyone. It put an end to college football as we knew it. I wish it didn't come along, but it did. However, now that we're in this new chaotic world, there is a chance to choose a new path and evolve. If the old model no longer works, there is another model that does, and it's the NFL. UF can gain an advantage and return to relevance by adapting to the new world more quickly than its competitors. All of college football doesn't need to become the NFL, but if UF structures its program like an NFL franchise, there is an opportunity jump forward.

Sexton may have set the precedent, but he’s not the only agent that’s getting these types of contracts. As long as anyone is giving out these contracts, everyone is. You want to go against the grain and set a new precedent, have at it, but I find it very likely you’ll get the chance to do so, and even less likely you’ll be successful.

You don't think that if universities came calling they wouldn't quickly get agents?

The NIL is far better right now than the alternatives, being bandied around. Collage football has already changed, yes, but it can get much worse. We need to let the NIL settle in for a few years the way it is. New change or emulating the NFL is not the answer. There's no reason to rush into something else.

They're working on revenue sharing right now. :( That sure ain't NIL (not that NIL is NIL anyway).

That's just one step closer to full employment to schools, and that is NOT college football. I can easily extrapolate and see where this is heading towards.

Agreed, and its pretty easy to see isn't it. I can't say I'm looking forward to fantasy college football and CF Redzone, because those two things along with Vegas are the only reasons the NFL is still doing well.

At least we now know who the House members of Congress are that are owned by the NFL.

This exact mindset is why UF got top flight facilities just in time for NIL to take over as the most important part of recruiting. Innovate or die.

I really pray someone in charge in Gainesville is taking the appropriate steps to get this turned around. I don’t know how many football seasons I have left where I’m healthy enough to enjoy watching it and going to games. It makes me sad.

Ask Google who Jimmy Sexton represents and you'll see what I mean. The point is that we should stop fishing in that pond. There is more value to be found w/ investments in players and the front office. Hire NFL assistance. Most don't have representation. Create a new economy for coaches.

Of course. But they may not all hire the same one, which is the problem today.

There has to be some kind of commitment/contract between the players and teams. This bidding war every year to keep your players is unsustainable.

    It's already not college football.
