They did a masterful job using covid to camouflage another 'weekly visit to the woodshed' season. Noles are selling that Norvell is really taking the reigns this year and had nothing to do with last season, which is a smart strategy. Unfortunately for them, that's going to be a tougher sell in Dec. Very likely that reality from Sept-Nov significantly slows their recruiting momentum.
Remind me of my business partner. He worries about every single thing that hasn’t even happened yet instead of just doing what you Gotta do to get something done. IMG and Florida state is old news. We very rarely get somebody from there. I’m not gonna worry about it until we can’t beat them on the field
Besides offensive line, I’ve liked our recruiting. Getting a few players that are highly ranked doesn’t scare me or make me feel better. Well rounded classes and good transfers has been fairly productive for Mullen.
We really are sad sacks, seeing how we can't get to New Year's six bowls or put anybody in the NFL. How could we ever compete with a three win team who got their 20th choice as head coach? No credibility.
I typically go by the 247 composite rankings for team rankings which has them at 8 right now, and in order for them to stay in the top ten with their average they would need 27 recruits, which I don't know how many they can take. I'm not trying to argue that UF is not struggling, they are doing bad on oline, but the level that some are pumping up this FSU class makes it sound like they are competing with Bama and UGA which they are obviously not.
Outside of OL/DL classes are about the same. We both have NR and reasonably ranked skill positions. It’s the OL and DL that make their class formidable. I wish we had 5 of each.
looked like my friends kids 14 year old throwing a bomb in flag football. I’ve seen better passes by the one armed man in the fugitive.
interesting, you haven’t yet concluded they are paying OL and DL. You still have that one in your back pocket.
But you agree we have to match or get close right? It’s unclear still how much each position group garners and how deep they get paid. A 20th ranked QB prospect can’t demand same as #1 on the front end. Each university will have the ability to choose their most promoted but I think big deals on the front end will be regretted more often than those created once a player proves himself. I think a lot of agreements have to be made on IF a player remains a face of a university as well although I could see a standard injury clause at least.
It occurs to me just like in the draft some players will not live up or will not become significant for a couple of seasons. The front end deals might be I’ll advised but time will tell. If I were a JR QB at Bama I might be asking where’s my poto gold.
