UF only has 11 recruits right now and the majority of the likely remaining recruits will bring up the average. There is no team in college football ranked higher than UF with 11 or less recruits.
I agree that Mullen and co. Should be doing a little more on the trail and I also wish they would be better about recruiting on the online. However, this years FSU class is not comparable to 2019 UF, they will not finish top ten, they will not finish with an average above 90, and they will not finish with 17 4 stars.
maybe but still, it’s comparable at this point in time for them to our 2019 class no matter how we slice it. Don’t matter though, we’ll take care of em
Comparable as history says it should be. I know some of us believe UF is superior to all others and I tend to like tgat attitude. Thing is, every other school believes the same thing. Purely football on field results? Are we superior?
I think it is true when you look at the totality of the UF Sports program, academic rankings, and national brand, while playing in the SEC. it is not true just looking at football only, as on field performance and facilities would clearly give the edge to others there. Under Dan, I think you could definitely state a top 10 program and on 18 months our facilities (other than dorms) will be on par with others. Dorms and stadium still need work thereafter. However, athletes at UF are surrounded by Olympic medalists and national champions in other sports.
Problem with all of that is you are thinking like an adult. To a kid FSU had more swag while they were growing up, offer instant PT at many spots, have a higher payout, have a ready-made scapegoat for their current problems, and can point to the FLA&M coeds right down the street. FSU epically and hilariously blew it with Willie, but they weren't going to stay down forever. However, their recruiting class isn't the angst inducing juggernaut that has the OP hysterical.
You have to give Jimbo a lot of the credit for that tire fire. That program turned its back on academic shortcomings and disgusting off field behavior long before Willie arrived. And a lot of their trash is still there. It’s going to take more than 2 years to clean it up.
on top of that, they have to SHOW they can develop these kids too and yes covid was bad for them and everyone last year but they didn’t show any sense of offensive identity or progress. Their DL was terrible too and there’s no reason it wont be this year
They appear to be much better off than us at the moment. We have to have a good or great season in a tougher conference just to maintain credibility. We hope to have a solid season then close with a decent class. It could turn out that they lose six games and appear to be in real disarray. But that likely isn't going to help us recruit better, only that it will make us fans feel better.
yeah every program, including those with new coaches, had to deal with Covid. Yet FSU looked like the keystone cops out there in most games. They were embarrassing. Random comparison…Arkansas and same Pittman. He was not only a first year head coach at a school but had never been a head coach period, which Norvell had been. And while Arkansas didn’t set the world on fire you could see they were an improved team. A competent football program bit without enough talent playing and all SEC schedule. on the other hand, FSU played a non conference patsy and all ACC after that and looked like they had never seen a football before.
They actually had teams travel to FSU and cancelled games the day before or day of the game. Sure losses and the way hid in their dorms.
What are you talking about, "should be doing a little better"? The 19 class was a mirage. Here you go: GatorsTerritory 2021 Football Roster - Florida Gators Missing before they helped the team in any way are: Chris Steele Arjei Henderson Deyavie Hammond Jesiah Pierre Jalon Jones Dionte Marks Chester Kimbrough Wardrick Wilson and we have been without Diwun Black. It was a class of 16 at best.
Of course we have to see how their season plays out then if they actually sign the class. Everything starts with recruiting, right? I'm looking at an inexperienced staff that has so far landed 5OL/5DL, all that would all be takes for us and had UF offers. They already penetrated IMG. Outside of their massive OL/DL classes they have two NR commits and a lower ranked WR(66th) and that is with 18 commits and a now class ranking of 4th. Contrast that with UF's haul at the moment. We have a decent DE prospect and an undersized OT prospect that is a long shot to develop into a true SEC OT. Maybe by year three? Of 11 commits we have two that are NR. So what I'm saying is that if it starts with recruiting fsu is in position now to only add another seven other-than-linemen and they would have a very good class. True, this is a snapshot at the moment and the picture might change dramatically by ESD. But they are not under the gun, we are. The staff and team that should be crushing it is not. I imagine it is rare that a class three quarters full with a ranking of top 5 disintegrates to a final position of say 15th as some here seem to expect and as well I imagine few classes at this point ranked in the mid 30s when half full catapult into the top 10. We can hope but it's not a good bet that it will happen. Warchant
True, we might look better on-field but do you think fsu's commits are waiting to see how we do? It certainly appears our recruits are waiting to see how we do. Why is that? It's very odd that our staff appears to have so little credibility. You should ask yourself about that.
