Seems like a pattern for this “expert”.

 

Ok, so using one scholar to claim the libbies this and the libbies that is still a fallacious claim. I'm sure Bluke will make a mad dash to cite some of the abundantly exceptional scholarship that is being published. And let's not forget that this scholar was held accountable; not exactly an indictment on academia - quite the opposite.

I am with you to a point. I’m a pretty skeptical person, so I do think we shouldn’t be putting tremendous faith in any single study.

However, I don’t think this is in any way a left vs right issue. How many times have right leaning politicians, religious leaders, or Wall Street executives lied? Some percentage of people in all fields will cheat, and science is no different.

More importantly, as flawed as science is, what other way of understanding reality is superior? Are religion, philosophy, politics, intuition, astrology, authority, and emotion free of mistakes? If I differ from conservatives in my views on truth, it likely isn’t because I have higher faith in in science but that I have lower faith in virtually all other ways of knowing. True knowledge is tough to come by man.

It is kind of funny I kept seeing in the last message column (ignored member). I couldn't figure out who I had accidentally put on ignore until I finally realized I put nobody on ignore. I eventually realized it was some guy named tampagtr who had me on ignore. Obviously he has anybody with a right lean on ignore. Pretty typical of people with a closed mindset.

 

How can you see who has you on ignore?
I don’t recall ever banging heads with him..

While not coming right out and saying the site was biased and the report was trash, you used subtle innuendo to suggest it. It’s a lawyer trick.

My reaction as well. He's one of the most closed-minded posters on TH, as evidenced by the fact that his reaction to any issue is predictable and always the same.
