Why would we want another cheating azz football program in the SEC, and why would the SEC want to help dissolve the ACC in the process? This makes no sense for the SEC in both cases. Screw FSU, they made their bed a long time ago...

Slightly different perspective: Does anyone think that this effort to get out of the conference would be moot if it weren't for their undefeated season?

I guess I'm saying if FSU was 7-6 or whatever like in the recent past, would this even be an issue. I think they are trying to strike while the iron is hot and people "THINK" they are back. If they slip back to mediocrity then the case in public opinion will drop.

Most likely. The ACC should stand strong on this. If they lose this case then it will set a precedent which will allow other members leave as well. Clemson and Miami would surely leave. Notre Dame would use it to break the scheduling agreement and jump on the Big 10 bandwagon. The NC and VA schools would be lined up for SEC admission. It would destroy their conference. Hopefully the court will do the right thing and hold FSU to their contractual obligations.

  10. Maybe FSU will go independent again and sue to get into the 12-team CFP? How would that work?

I think it's funny that FSU thinks that they have the right destroy the entire ACC Sports conference for their own self greedy, selfish interest. And without FSU having to pay a dime to the ACC league that would inevitably be gutted as a result of their actions?

If I were a school in the ACC I would side with the Conference to stop that free exit. Make FSU pay if their going to attempt to destroy your conference.

They are assuming if they get out of the agreement:
    - Another Conference wants them.
    - Another Conference would not have an issue with them suing to get out of a freely signed agreement
    - Other teams would vote them in said conference and reduce their own payout
    - They'll be no consequences from the ACC if they lose the lawsuit
    - Nobody will figure out how stupid they are for giving up the easiest route into the 12 team playoff by not wanting to remain in the ACC

Or anywhere else. My O&B glasses melted decade's ago. I can step back and look at things realistically. How many more regular season games did Florida lose to SEC teams from 1990-2001?

Being that FSU had a winning record against the SEC'S best team in the 90's, they might have lost 4-5 games.

I was there, and I remember.

Not sure where you are coming from - sure seems kinda snarky. Where am I being unrealistic?
I was there well before that, and I remember all of it (my first year there was 79). Just disagree with you. Even Bowden himself disagrees with you. Check out what he said to Finebaum.

Even Bowden called an SEC schedule a meat-grinder. FSU would clearly have been good in the SEC in the 1990's....they were the best recruiting school in the South. Would they have done as well as they did? Very doubtful. Even with a schedule that provided no more than two or three competitive game per year, they only managed to get 2 NC's in Bowden's tenure. We saw what UT did to FSU in 1998.

FSU foolishly went to the ACC when they had a chance at getting into the SEC so they would have a better chance at winning championships and for a while it worked.....now, not so much.

Sadly, I expect the tax payers of Florida to have to absorb a lot of this

Our elected politicians seem to want to spend our dollars bailing out the cesspool again…where were they when we needed to pay off muschamp, mac and mullen? Did they come to rescue us from their contracts. Whoever gives them a penny won’t get one vote from me that’s for sure.
