Maybe but I don't think he was ever their first choice, it was probably a favor to Dad along with a promise to give him a few years.

Zero issue hiring Meat, but Link was available then . So 2 years at ND made him now the better option than Meat?

Not like the program fell apart in 2 years. Pretty young team this year. So Meat didnt get/make it worse.

Lots of fsu kids liked and were attached to Martin. Same with new recruits.

Too much legacy. They made the right decision then and now IF they get Link.

Honestly, I don’t have anything for either one of Martins. And as everyone that knows the history for me it goes directly back to them being-uh, less than truthful to Alan. Or just plain lying to him.

That said, “they” (FSU) said they gave Jr 3 years to right the program. One of those years as everyone knows was 2020, the Covid year which shut everybody down. Don’t really understand how they can count that as one of his three years—must be that new math that’s tied into all the new analytics being used now.

I feel like they wouldn’t have cut him loose so quick if they didn’t already have who they wanted in play.

Like they cut Willie cause they had Norvil in place?

Yes Link Jarrett is the obvious choice but this still reeks of a knee-jerk reaction.

There is however talk of disgruntled parents and internal turmoil. Your sources got anything on this?

The end of season conversation with their new AD didn't go well. Add that with kids leaving in mass led to this firing.

As interesting as this may be on paper, it would be a disaster in practice.

Meat was raised by the LONR, played for him, spent 22 years as an assistant at F$U and then became head coach “trying” to be his own man but we all know he was using daddy’s playbook.

He knows no other way of thinking than the Martin way. That will lead to immediate clashes with Sully who we know is very different from the Martins.

Decades of Martinism brought no NCs to F$U.

    In Sully we trust.

Wonder where Metcalfe goes. Good baseball man that will help someone and can recruit.

Today’s ball players IMHO are so different to the way we were raised and played the game. The only words out of your mouth to a coach when we came along were “yes sir” and “no sir” pretty much.

Today’s players and parents require a different kind of handling. I would not be very good at this so my opinion might not be a good answer….

thats how todays minds think, I agree. Hes no different a coach now than was then(2 years ago)..Neither is Meat. Not even a full team of own players yet for either. If better than Meat now, he also was then.

Very little difference in the 2 teams regulars season. Couple games each year. Post season is more about draws & luck than any coaching. Noles probably win Ga Suthern regional also if there instead of Irish. Or at least roughly same odds to have won it.

I’m of the same mentality, Bill.

Uncoacheable kids make uncoachable and unemployable adults. And I will leave it at that before this gets sent to the political forum.

ND has an awful stadium which is why they didn't host. Until that's addressed they've probably reached their ceiling.

There is another one: Jr. was not a good HC and should have never been hired. Hence the reason I’m bummed he got fired.
