Depending on your age I'm sure many of you have fond memories of CARtoons Magazine. From Petersen Publishing, it ran from 1959 to 1991. During that time, spinoff magazines such as Hot Rod Cartoons, DRAG Cartoons, SURFtoons and CYCLEtoons were also published.

The magazine featured work by some of the very best automotive/cartoon artists of the time...the immortal George Trosley, Pete Millar, Alex Toth, and Shawn Kerri, among others.

I dearly loved that magazine and couldn't wait until the newest issue came out. I have every issue of CARtoons ever published, going back to 1959 when it was about the length and width of a Readers Digest Magazine.

I always read it cover to cover, but I always looked for the latest Krass & Bernie submission by George Trosley first. George, by the way, is alive and well living in Pennsylvania. He maintains a website where you can buy T-shirts, Krass & Bernie CDs and even commission a cartoon drawing of your car. George is extremely nice and answers his emails personally. For many years he wrote Krass & Bernie features for Car Craft Magazine, the only reason I subscribed.

Several years ago, an artist in Ontario bought the rights to the name of the magazine and began publishing CARtoons bimonthly in its original format. After a shaky start, it's been running full speed ahead now for several years. Trosley is still writing Krass & Bernie adventures even though they announced his retirement a few issues ago.

I have ABSOLUTELY no association with this magazine, but I though some of you might enjoy a few minutes of recapturing your youth...or maybe even subscribing for your kids.
