Absolutely. I would have said that more clearly, but I was on my big screen using my TV remote. Thanks for saying it better than I did.
Changes nothing. It was off comment for the French Elections being discussed. The harangue posted wasn't worth a response.
I was so confused until I figured that out. ETGator is a calm rational poster. ETGator1 is not. I could expound on this thought but don’t want a vacation. I am in enough trouble commenting on non football posts on swampgas already. lol
Do don't read much do you? France doesn't elect all for one, it's split by all 250 parties (exaggeration yep, but there are at least 20 parties in Parliament) so this election was the worst-case scenario because there is no majority, so effectively France has no government going forward.
@danmanne65 is one of the most moderate "left" leaning posters here. Pretty sure he has voted R a number of times if my memory serves.
Actually I am a registered Republican. Living in Florida the Republican primaries typically are the real elections. Just had a friend look it up. I was a registered democrat when I lived inside the perimeter in Atlanta for the same reason. I am a pragmatic libertarian. My voter registration card for some reason is showing up top. lol. I have been a registered Republican for over 20 years.
I see, he wants his cake and ice cream too. Left leaning poster says plenty. He is capable of commenting on others, called me out as "not rational and calm" without provocation, who don't agree with him. Dan is far more in line with the left than the right.
Look. l'm just saying there are a lot of people on this board that are so far left they cant even see the right. Dan isnt one of those guys Him and I disagree on several things, but that is America.
LOL! There is no such thing as a pragmatic libertarian, at least not any longer. Did you participate in the Libertarian Convention thread? It was quite enlightening. What you are saying is I'm a democrat, but I live in a republican area where the decisions are made by republicans, and I want to have a say locally so much as I can and still have my leftist leanings intact. I find it highly unlikely that you would vote R for national candidates. I can't imagine you voting for DeSantis, Rubio, or Scott. I get it as my wife is similar to you except, she votes R, is a registered Independent, but doesn't care about local participation.
Reading the gang is all here threads with voices in unison, I can agree there are far more here who have gone so far left around the riverbend that they can't fathom or accept differing opinions. I agree with you, Dan is not that far gone, at least not openly.
I love when ignorant people try and call out others for being ignorant. If you cannot wrap your brain around France's pseudo-presidential, parliamentary government, that is fine, just say so and carry on. Otherwise, you should not make clearly uneducated (see: ignorant) comments like "France has no government". The elected president appoints the Prime Minister in France....not a majority party as other parliamentary governments do. France's government is just fine. Macron is still the president, and has already asked PM Attal to stay on. Further, once again, the ultra right modern-Nazi party (see Republicans in the US) were slapped down by voters despite polls just 2 weeks ago foreshadowing their party seizing a majority of parliament seats.
Great job! I just love the funny and off topic emoji's from the usual suspects who don't posses the knowledge and/or intelligence to refute your factual presentation. All they present are responses any idiot can muster.
You are FOS. Just because Macron asked his PM to stay on for now does not mean this government will last with the current PM. The majority party, which is the ultra-left modern Nazi party, is nothing like MAGA, Make America Great Again republicans, have already demanded that Macron resign or name the majority leader as the PM. This new PM believes native French citizens are a detriment to France's future, have called for the murder of cops so they cannot vote for the right, and have far leftist ANTIFA and pro-Palestinians who resort to violence at the drop of a hat. France's borders and immigration, well, there isn't any of that. Jews fear for their lives after this election. That is NOT the right in France or the US. Even after the ultra-far left won the majority, they chose to go to war with the police in many cities rather than to celebrate their gains. Scenes like this took place in cities all over France: Frontières on X: "⚡️Scène de chaos près de la place de la République après des troubles menées par l’ultra-gauche. https://t.co/kSnBDZFDUH" / X (twitter.com) Macron will have no choice other than to appoint the communist ultra-left leader. He wasn't on the ballot, but he is weaker now as a result of the snap elections. Macron is a 3-year lame duck. Failure to comply with the ultra-left demands puts France into a civil war watch that Macron predicted would happen if the right gained the majority. Instead, it is the ultra-left that will start the civil war if Macron remains non-compliant. Macron made a deal with the devil and violence is the result. My daughter and son-in-law are going to the Olympics. I fear for their safety as I pray they will avoid the violence and comeback home safely.
