Fighting words there. But actually more of a Clash man.

Early podcast adopter. Shared Serial with my daughter, awaiting drops at 7am Thursday.

Otherwise no real interest in True Crime genre, except for parody like Only Murders in the Building

The HBO miniseries with Colin Firth is pretty good and will give you a good feel for the case in dramatic form.

It would certainly be an amazing story if he gets a new trial and is acquitted, or the “real killer” is found, but to say “there is no way he did it?” He told people he was going to kill her. He wrote a note to his friend about Hae that said “I’m going to kill” at the top. He skipped his track practice that day. When policed asked him where he was at the time, he just said “I don’t know”. If the police framed him, they did a hell of a job, in that everything fell into place in a way that he couldn’t offer any sort of evidence at trial to dispute the state’s theory. Jays story always seemed weird to me, in that he said he didn’t know Adnon very well, but he confided in him he was going to kill her and then asked for his help to bury the body. But still, as others say, if Adnon didn’t do it, he’s the most unlucky person on the planet. I think what was even something the podcaster often said, IIRC.

I think I saw the promos for that, but it fell under the category of "wife is not interested". Colin Firth was strong enough hook, although Ryan Reynolds was enough to get my wife interested in following lower-level Welsh football.

I'm always free to watch those shows on my own but I'm kinda backed up on those and don't get to it, especially during the overlap of baseball and football season like now.

And I'm not really into the true crime genre. It's become a bit of a joke that so dominates. Yet another reinforcement that my entertainment tastes are not mainstream

Sarah Koenig/Cinda Channing got the story going, but I wouldn't follow her conclusions. There's just a lot more out there.

He had plenty of evidence to offer, but the way his attorney did stuff didn't really make it work. He shared with her where he was, include in the library. That was part of what they were working on with the extra affidavit that ended up getting withdrawn after Kevin Urich intimidated the witness. He was getting along with her fine at the time.

Jay story was plainly created by police. Again, read through Susan Simpson's blog or listen to Undisclosed.

I'm certain he did not kill her

I wouldn't necessarily call it true crime, at least, its not a straight forward court docudrama or procedural. But its also hard to see why someone who wasnt familiar with the case would just sit down and watch it knowing nothing.

Looked to me like it was trying to travel on Nicole Kidman Hugh Grant one that we watched on HBO. Cannot remember the name.

So much stuff out there to watch

HBO has a lot of dramatic "anti" true crime offerings that sort of subvert or intentionally address some of the criticisms of the genre that were really good, but difficult to watch. I'm not sure The Staircase was quite in that camp, but it was way more artistic than say, Dateline NBC.

Speaking of Serial, I made it halfway through episode 1 of Season 2. Anyone actually make it through Bo Bergdahl?

Yeah, but its been years. I thought the 3rd season was the most interesting IMO.

I did. Lacking, to be sure. I want to say there are four seasons I listen to the third as well but not the fourth. But I can't recall them. But man did that change the world

I dont think there is a 'true' 4th season, they've simply applied the brand to other stuff

No that was a spin off. Season 3 covers the legal system in Ohio.

Same with me. I’m one of the only people who seemed to like season 2. It’s definitely not the page turner that is season 1, but I think Bergdahl’s story is interesting.

And I agree Season 3 is the best. Also not as compelling as season 1, but it kind of make’s Adnan’s story look like a puff piece.

Wow. Hard to believe. If their star witness totally fabricated the story, he should serve 22 years himself.
