the error here is that the papers belong to the office not the person. They are transferred to the archive and saved for the former presidents library. The former holder of the office of President gets a library to house them in and with some culling for security are made available for future researchers.

There were receipts. Pages 6 and 7 list the boxes and items recovered under the warrant. Not every box or item was marked classified. 11 were out of 28 listings, most concerning is the top secret and TS/SCI stuff which presumably would be the “nuclear” documents.

No mental masturbation needed when you are dealing with facts.

Of the tens of thousands of emails investigators reviewed, 113 contained classified information, and three of those had classification markers. Former FBI Director James Comey said in 2016 that Clinton should have known that some of the 113 were classified, but others she might have understandably missed. In a sign of the uncertainty around classification, in 2018, a Justice Department report found that the classification markings were not clear.
Of the emails that might have been missed were emails that were the start of discussions that were classified, but contained nothing of national security importance. For example, there was an email where DOD asked Hillary Clinton about a potential leak on how information got to the NY Times, with a link to the Times article. A discussion about a potential leak is classified, but the article itself was public domain. And in response to the email, Clinton requested to move the conversation to something more secure.

Not the argument. The argument is about what constitutes executive privilege and how it has been treated in the past and how it is being treated presently. Either you do not want to understand this or you are purposely ignoring it.

Waiving executive privilege over documents for a political opponent and turning them over to the DOJ for a fishing expedition is what most non-partisan people would consider impeachable territory.

Then maybe you should look for alternative responses that do not include insults about literacy.

I fully agree with that is what the receipt says and the "box marked top secret" is at least one they took, but it is nothing but your own conclusion what was in the box. We have no idea what actual documents were in the boxes. And if they were so top secret, why wait since May, when they knew they were in a "pool storage room"? Doesn't appear they had a lot of concern.
Just step back from trying so hard to indict Trump and look at the facts and the time line. Not at all saying Trump is innocent but to sit here and act as if the world will end if these documents get out then wait as long as they did is ludicrous. Either the documents are no big deal or the DOJ is so inept they waited months to recover them. Logic says it can't be both

Again, my point isnt to validate the story, but that such a negative article about Trump would appear on the FoxNews site in the first place.

That is a change of pace and a notable occurrence.

Yes, but the cult members are the ones doing stupid stuff, not the ones choosing that side of the political aisle.

Even so, people leave cults all the time when faced with realities.

They had been working with Trump’s people and previously recovered 15 boxes. Sounds like he lied about the existence of these additional boxes (recovered only via search warrant) which should make you go “hmmmmmm”. The Trump lawyer signed a false affidavit, so at minimum that person will have some ‘splainin to do.

Yes, we don’t know what is in the “top-secret” or TS/SCI boxes. By their nature they may never be detailed exactly (though I hope we get some topical level detail). We just know the “leak” about some of the materials being nuclear.

Seems kind of strange your main complaint essentially boils down to: - “if it was so bad they should have raided Trump sooner”! Maybe… (just spitballing here)… they weren’t actually keen on “raiding” a former President? But mr. “I could shoot someone on 5th ave and get away with it” left them no other choice after their “asking nicely” for months came to a head.

No person has executive privilege. The office of President has it. The current President has the ability to grant it to others. But as former POTUS, Trump had none. Yes, that means he could divulge classified information because he has no more privilege, but then that would be against the Espionage Act.

And the raid on MAR was no fishing expedition. NARA tried for a year to get the documents back. They did recover about 60% in January, 2022. But by Feb, NARA realized there was more missing, including highly classified info. That's when the DOJ and FBI got involved. They first asked if there was any classified docs still at MAR. Trump lied in an affidavit and said no. The FBI then gained more intel on the classified info at MAR, and issued a subpoena for Trump to return them. Again, Trump didn't comply.

This isn't fishing. This is giving Trump the benefit of the doubt to return all classified information. In short, Trump was handled with baby gloves. Anyone else, and the FBI would have raided a long time ago.

As to why wait so long? The last thing the DOJ wants to do is look political. And they did try everything and anything to get the docs back before a raid was necessary.

Is that what happened though? Trump was asked to return documents he took. He refused. He was subpoenaed and he sent some. Then the fbi got a search warrant to retrieve the documents that Trump took but shouldn’t have. You are now buying the nonsense that Trump is spewing.

Hahahaha... says the guy who drinks from a fire hose of mis-information. Really too funny.

I'm not just referring to his speech. But everything that lead up to it.

Trump spent nearly every second of his time after the election stirring up hate and spreading lies about the election. He called his goons to DC on the day the count would be made telling them "it was going to be wild."

Giuliani spoke before Trump and literally called for Trial by Combat. Who Trump then thanked saying he was strong.

Minutes into Trumps speech you could here the crowd shouting "Fight for Trump!"

Trump may not have lit the fuse, but he sure as hell built that bomb.

One of the common themes of those who were convicted for their roles in 1/6 is they all believed they were following the president's orders.

Oh I have gone Hmmmmmm plenty of times already!!! Some about Trump and some about the opposition. If the country was in peril because of these "top secret" documents being stored in a pool storage room and they waited months to do something about it, should make all of us go what the hell is going on!!!! Calling out both Trump for taking and DOJ for waiting to recover!!
I try hard not to jump to conclusions one way or another, but for as much as the Trump hater crowd calling Trump supporters sycophants, trumpista's, cult members, etc...and believe everything he says, you guys are just as hard core the other direction.
I say bring the temp down a little and let's see what we have here before we burn a witch or turn them loose!!
Speculation after speculation is turning into fact on both sides of this argument, well in the minds of the hard core for both sides

His comments about women were not made up.

His treatment of women is not made up.

His refusal to call off the violent dogs in certain cases is not made up.

His verbal attacks on his own VP are not made up.

His narcissism is not made up.

His vulgar nastiness is not made up.

His broken campaign promises are not made up.

His hateful attacks on not just his enemies and their families, but those on his political side and their innocent families, are not made up.

His HATRED for opponents is equal to what he receives.

You keep focusing on what the left does to him, when what you should be focusing on is what the right SHOULD do to him. That is disown him. Yesterday.

He is a disgusting, vile, slob of a man with no self awareness as he takes shots at others for being just like him.

This isnt just dems going after him, but pubs too. But people have crucified them to where others are too scared to stand up.

We have bullied our own for this terrible human being.

Our side of the aisle is in shambles because of it.

If they found 300 classified docs in his basement, will you stand down and finally turn away or claim they were planted?

I mean, what will people say if this is all true? What is the defense of this?

At this point, for the sake of party and country I am fine with them getting him like they did Capone. Lesser charge is fine with me. Just eliminate him from the landscape.

Lets say your coworker talked about people like he talks about people?

Lets say your coworker talked about women like he has talked about women.

What would HR do to your coworker?

Lets say your coworker kept dumping his wife to marry up, and called his own daughter a "piece of a$$" on tape., Would you just consider him unlikeable? Would your feelings be without merit?

He is an abomination of a man by my faith. All are sinners, most of us at least can admit it.

I hope they get him for every dirty little thing he's done

His followers who claim that wasn’t his intention, do they think he is a genius or an idiot because if he didn’t know what his followers were going to do with his speech, then they must think he is an idiot.
