This is exactly right. This is market research. The Fox News heads have been worried, not about Trump, but about the Republican base that they helped to create and its damaging effects for years now.

It started with the "truthy" stuff under Bush, which was the attempt to make the elderly Republicans stick with the party as things fell apart on numerous fronts in 2004-2008. That was the seed for truth becoming more about feelings than factual basis. This evolved into the early Obama-era Glen Beck stuff about how the people telling you that you are racist are connected to George Soros (or some other rich Jewish person) through these 42 organizations and how we must defeat them! This gave way to birtherism and the ability to not feel guilty for thinking that Obama wasn't really American (and how that belief totally didn't arise from race at all- except around people that it was safe to talk about race with). This is obviously where Trump enters the story. Then it builds into the more conspiratorial rantings of the late Obama era (he's going to give us all Ebola and has a secret army training in Texas coming to take your guns away!). This led to the Trump era of alternative facts and near constant whining of how they were under attack. Then came Covid, which was frightening and developed an audience in denial. Finally, this led to the post-election issues, which were pretty much the epitome of the news should be about my feelings, not what actually happen, and I feel aggrieved!

Fox News has occasionally floated attempts to rein in the worst elements of their own actions, dating back to at least the birther era. The Republicans lost some very winnable Senate races around then because of candidates mirroring their language. The problem with these attempts is that their audience doesn't want them to rein it in. They are buying an attempt to feel good about their own beliefs (even if, or especially if, "society" doesn't like them much). Trying to rein this in is itself an acknowledgement that sometimes news might not be based on you and your emotions and that the blame can't be entirely placed on those that you view as attacking you. If Trump just lost an election because more people didn't want him to be President, that makes them feel depressed and helpless and less connected to America. If, instead, he lost an election because it was stolen by all those "Coastal Elites" and "Democrats in cities" or whatever euphemism works at the time, that makes them feel angry and righteous and connected to the country that they would prefer to exist. That is a lot better than depressed and helpless for many people.

This could be yet another trial balloon at leaking some actual facts to see if they can safely wander freely outside of Trumps pants zipper. I feel sure they will be jumping back in to safety shortly.

The affidavit includes information that may be shared in court. DOJ does not want to tip their hand. Some information regarding classified information may never be shared. The media nor the public has a right to transparent information regarding an open criminal investigation. Why do so many wish to read classified information? Why do so many feel they have some 'right' to review documents critical to a criminal investigation?

"Search warrants are executed on properties and residences every day by local, state and federal law enforcement authorities in a manner no different than what happened at Mar-a-Lago."

Those supporting law and order, and, having been involved with probably 100 search warrants, I am one, understand this perfectly. It's not until after the facts come out that one can determine whether the affidavit was false or didn't state probable cause. Until then, one has no idea whether the warrant was motivated by politics and improvidently granted. Those who complain before then either have something to hide or, as is the case with Trump and his obsequious followers, are motivated by partisan politics.

The time to complain will be when we know what the affidavit sets forth and what the FBI found. Until then, law enforcement and the judicial system are entitled to the benefit of the doubt by all Americans, including the most rabid partisans.

First part has often been said to be true for multiplicity of reasons. Not the least of which being when we hired Chip Kelly

2nd part, not so much :D

Opinion pieces are often biased. That isnt the story here.

The fact that Fox is the one putting i out there IS the news.

Great. Fox News gave a platform to a biased opinion.

How about let’s focus on the reality that this raid might be the most dangerous thing we have seen yet. Instead of letting biased people try and muddy the waters. Let’s get factual information. I don’t care the source. You use to also not care about the source…

How can we tell the difference between reality and bias? How do you know that you are completely bias free?

    Bottom of a pint glass
It forced Trump supporters into even more dangerous pretzels, that even they, after years of practice, may not be able to get out of.
