Four transfers scheduled to visit this weekend

“Meh” is quite the appropriate comment.

the only player worthwhile on that list is Slackman. Every school is recruiting him. And since coming from an Ivy League school - hard to know if he’d translate to SEC and have production. The Pitt guy? 3 year stats show he is not a difference maker. The Oregon state DB lost his starting job this year so is more like Moten who transferred to UF from Michigan and was blah.

The Wisconsin WR-4 years and 47 catches. (Correction - that was 2022 with Mertz at QB- so not bad as their WR#1. Though I’m still not interested in bringing in a receiver from WI)

Again, outside of maybe slackman, the Penn D lineman, none of these guys are going to be anything better than what we have. What we need is starter level studs coming in, not back ups and depth.

 

The cornerback is actually from Oregon and receiver had 47 catches and 689 yards in one season with Mertz. Those were not career numbers

 

Slackman is a must get. Compares favorably to Fiske from FSU who came from MAC school.

Receiver from Wisconsin would also be important to get now. With Mertz he had a good year 47-689-14 carries 99 yards. You can’t judge him in last year as program is kinda all over the place. He’s also 6”1 200. We need a few bigger receivers. Also has done a ton of blocking in his career so should already be skilled there.

The tall corner is also possibly a take.

It’s concerning we don’t have any big portal names coming in besides Slackman but given the pace with which we move and how things have been going, Billy needs two-Three to commit and needs to get a couple of HS kids this week to change momentum.

Yeah and we would want one of those players as well. Who we have already reached out to and are trying to get lol.

So they’re bringing in 10 players and 1 of them is a want. We are bringing in 4 and 1 of them is a want.
Seems like this board would be much more upset if we did that

I’d say 2 we are bringing in are immediate takes.
1. Slackman
2. Dike- we do not have the ability to be very picky about the wide receiver position and this is a guy that put up really good numbers in a really bad offense, two years ago with Mertz.
He would be in immediate number three for us right now and maybe even number two.

I would expect or hope we come out of the weekend with both committed. Dike also had 14 carries for 99 yards. in his big year.

A veteran that you know can block after playing in that offense.

Dike has grown in college(duh) but he was also a 10.85 sprinter as a junior in high school, so really good speed, at least then.

Yeah, adding four talented and produvtive vetrans to a real young squad would suck.

 

It wouldn’t suck but we need some major upgrades and I’m not sure I see that. Possibly starters or maybe just depth.
The corner was losing snaps at Oregon. The defensive lineman is coming from the Ivy League. The other dline had 37 tackles in three years. The wr seems he might could start and we can use the experience but maybe not a huge upgrade over the players we have. Although they may all be takes, there’s not much wow factor there. The most concerning thing to me is that there are only four of them and not one of them is an offensive tackle , edge rusher, or linebacker.
