Former Sen. Ben Sasse Takes Office as UF President and now announces he is retiring

Man... I wish I had that job.

 

Nice article in the Alligator from Monday regarding what Sasse is and has been doing since on the job. The quotes by faculty seem to conflict with the narrative in this thread. Shocker.

Thanks for linking. Couldn’t do it since I was reading the physical copy! Old school.

 

I’m certainly not qualified to say whether he’s doing a good or bad job on the various technical components of his job, but I do wish he was more visible to students on campus on a daily basis. Think it just makes a healthier environment for their U prez to not be inaccessible or behind closed doors most of the time. He’s the public face of the education component of the university and should be seen more in public. Just my $0.02.

I don’t think there was any question what Sasse has been up to. He’s been in Tallahassee getting his MAGA marching orders like the good little soldier he is.

The only faculty member quoted in the article was one of the BOT voters who voted to hire him, and faced a no confidence voted from the faculty for doing so.
So I wouldn’t exactly say it’s a representative sample.

I was waiting for this response. Do you realize how liberal every writer at the alligator is? If there was a negative skew to be written it would have been. Get over it.

 

I took a tour with my kid at UF this week. After every tour rep announced their pronouns we were off. I’m sorry to say I don’t think I want my kid going to UF. It is nothing like when I went there in the 90’s.
