I have a kid in STEM, and the other in”liberal arts” (political science and history). They don’t see much, if any, of the pronoun craziness, and they both have several friends that are gay (at UF and elsewhere)

I don’t live in a bubble. I live in South Florida. I travel all over for work. I can’t think of a single time that I was asked to use a specific, abnormal pronoun. And yet for people like you, the issue is bigger than China’s closing efforts on world leadership.

But, I can assure you, if someone asked me to call them “they” or “ze” , I’d do so in a heartbeat. Because it costs me nothing to show them dignity and respect.

Good for you. You’re playing by the libbie rules set by the libbie media, Hollywood and academia.
If someone corrected me for a weird pronoun I’d say no thanks.
We’re not changing adjectives, prepositions and language in general for anyone.
    It’s ridiculous.

No. It is an abnormal agenda that is trying to normalize something that is abnormal. I find it more important than you think as the focus of this agenda is on young kids. It’s actually evil imo.

I certainly never expected my daughter to be dealing with pronoun situations in high school outside of English class. But here we are…

I'm sure it's just me but it seems a bit odd that the university feels the need to push a pronoun agenda on the parents taking a campus tour...

My job involves some interaction with LGBTQ people, so I've had people ask to refer to them as pronouns that we would consider outside the norm (generally "they/them"). I do my best to honor the request. On the occasions when I've unintentionally messed up, people were understanding. If you're courteous to people, they're usually courteous to you back.

I think it’s absurd that your side spends so much time crying over pronouns that nobody you know uses or cares about. It’s such a contrivance.

And to be sure, you have every freedom to refuse to call someone by their pronoun of their choice, should you fortuitously ever meet someone that requests it. I find your comments stunning, to be honest, given your occupation of crisis therapy. I’d think you, more than others, would know first hand how much damage that causes people who might have fragile mental states.

Sure. Pronouns are Evil? Pronouns don’t cause anybody any trouble in their lives.

But Guns murdering children? Not a word from you.

    Pronouns are your evil.

    Makes perfect rational sense…

Right?!?! What the hell is so wrong or so difficult in showing others dignity?!?!?!
It is so much easier for some people to whine and hate than it is to simply be decent.

About right. Fire a red herring off to try and not discuss the issue being debated.

Yes. The psychological damage being inflicted on young kids is evil.

Just like a murderer using any weapon of choice to kill someone (child or adult) is evil.

You may not see this abnormal agenda as an issue. I do.

This is basically my attitude as well. If someone is technically named “Kathleen” but prefers to be called “Kath”, I try to do this. If someone appears to me as a male but prefers to be called “they”, I try to do this. I don’t find much difference between the two situations. If someone is upset that I’ve used the wrong pronouns, I don’t take this as a societal issue. To me, it’s an individual issue. Different people take offense at different things. Such is life.

You know, Adam Smith published The Theory of Moral Sentiments in 1759. In it, he advises against getting your happiness wrapped up in chasing the latest gadgets. The devices he has in mind include “a tooth-pick, of an ear-picker, of a machine for cutting the nails”.
