It is not setting the world on fire to question why the Flagship Institution of our Great State is pushing this nonsense.

And yes it is pushing it. I never see pronoun nonsense in everyday life. But have multiple stories of college tours at UF having a pronoun story. That is an agenda…

Maybe because you cannot always look at someone and know what that individual prefers to be called?

Is it really so offensive to everyone? If so, the problem is their's really.

For all of human history this was not a problem but now it suddenly is. It seems pretentious to me and mostly a form of virtue signaling. Nonetheless it ranks about #4976 on issues that I give 2 shits about.

Perhaps Sasse will break some kind of record for earliest vote of no confidence.

Exactly. Since you do not give a hoot about it, you will choose not to show respect enough to an individual to address that person with the appropriate pronoun.

We did not have this problem for thousands of years because society just put these people to death...which is still pretty much the attitude most Republicans project. Like it is some great personal burden to address someone with respect.

Let us know when the faculty are required to sign the Oath of Fealty to Sasse like the faculty at Midland College had to.

It is only an issue to the person who says they are something they are not to another. That is very rare. Most people that want to identify as something they are not do so and people move on. But when someone makes an issue out of another person saying “she” or “her” (because the person is a female) and says they are a they/them…the problem is not with the person who correctly identified the female. The problem is the the person being upset and expecting another to just know they want to be called a they/them on that particular day. Thankfully this is not normal. But it certainly does happen crazy enough.

I can assure you, since my son just graduated there and my daughter is a rising senior, UF is not any different than he majority of good schools. The Greek system thrives. The kids generally care just much about where they have their next party as they do about their next exam. They study hard, and play hard. And they don’t generally speak of trans or gays or blacks or any other of the issues, other than they are far more accepting of letting people live their lives.

For someone that has never interacted with someone requesting an alternative pronoun, don’t you think you expend an inordinate amount of thought and time condemning it? If it’s not a real issue to you in your every day life, why care?

If you hate research dollars, strong fund raising, and high level professor recruitment, than yes, this is a good thing.

When people believe the fear of pronounce exceeds quality education, research dollars and institutional excellence, we have problems.

    And now we have problems.
