Langford hasn't played for the Rangers since May 4. Is on the 10-day IL. His BA is down to .224, 2 for his last 18, and had been moved from the #3 slot in the batting order down to 6th and then 7th.
Ugg. This is ugly. Austin Maddox in underage sex sting. Glad he was caught. Former Red Sox pitcher among 27 arrested in Florida in underage sex sting, sheriff says: VIDEO.
Wow, he's closing in on 3 spins. Right side of his face got worked over good. This will be interesting to see if he has money for a good defense attorney or if he ends up on the FDLE Register.
Wyatt Langford is back off the IL. Was in the Texas lineup last night as DH. He went 0-3, dropping his BA to .218.
Brady Singer is off to his best start with Kansas City. He's started 11 games, thrown 61.2 innings, is 4-2 with a 2.63 ERA and 64 K's. For his career he is 31-33, 106 games, 103 starts, 567.1 IP, 4.28 ERA and 539 K's.
Logan Shore is one of my all time favorite Gators. From Minnesota, he was put into the Friday night starter role very early as a freshman and held that slot for 3 years. He started 52 games with a career record of 30-11, 2.41 ERA, 313.1 innings pitched, .231 BA against. He was a reliable, gutty pitcher with a great attitude, pitched for the US National Team and I thought for sure that he would be a solid pro pitcher. He was the 47th draft pick by the Okaland A's in 2016, was traded to the Detriot Tigers in 2018, who realeaqsed him in August 2022. In March 2023 he signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants, elected free agency in November 2023, then retired 3 weeks later. Logan Shore is now out of baseball. He never made it to the big leagues. I'm not sure what he is doing now, but I wish this former Gator great nothing but the best.
Brady Smith played for the Gators, primarily as a catcher and utility player, from 2018-2020. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Texas Rangers and played 2 years of minor league ball in the Rangers & Mets organization. He was released by the St. Lucie Mets in August 2022 and is no longer playing. He is still pursuing his degree in Family, Youth & Community Sciences from the University of Florida while working as an assistant coach at Northwest Florida College in Inceville, FL, where Smith grew up.
Kirby McMullen, from Ocala Forest High School, graduated from the University of Florida in 2021 and is back in Ocala. He is an insurance sales advisor for HUB INternational and coaches 12U baseball teams in Ocala.
Brandon Sproat is pitching really well right now... https://www.milb.com/player/brandon-sproat-687075?stats=gamelogs-r-pitching-mlb&year=2024
Hurston Waldrep also is pitching well..... https://www.milb.com/player/hurston-waldrep-694462?stats=gamelogs-r-pitching-mlb&year=2024
These minor league team names are pretty funny. Rumble Ponies and Stripers. The latter I initially thought was Strippers.
Former 1st round draft pick Richie Martin, UF SS from 2013-2015, has been a free agent since March 3, 2024, when he was cut by the LA Angels. Drafted by the A's in 2015, playing 3 years on the Minor League teams. The Baltimore Orioles selected him as their first choice in the 2018Rules 5 draft and he made their 2019 opening day roster. He played in 120 games that year with 90 starts, hitting .208, 6 HR, 23 RGI and 10 stolen bases. On July 15, 2020, he underwent surgery on a wrist and missed the rest of that season. In January 2021 he broke the hamate boone in his left hand, requiring surgery. On May 19, 2021, he had another fracture in his left wrist. On August 2 he was reactivated from the injury list and added back to the Orioles' roster. On November 30, 2021, the Orioles released him from their 40-man roster and assigned him to their AAA team. He started the 2022 season in AAA, then was brought back to the Orioles on June 11. On September 1, he was sent back to AAA and he opted for free agency. In January 2023, Martin signed a minor league deal with the Cincinnati Reds and was invited to spring training. He was released on March 28 and signed a ,imnor league deal with the washington Nationals on April 14. He played the 2023 season with their AAA team, then elected free agency on November 6, 2023. The Angels signed him to a minor league contract on January 8, 2024, but released him on March 3. I can't find any current information as to what he's been doing the last 3 months.
In the old days since he had been in the Show it would be more likely that he could get back to the Show. I am not sure what GMs think now. Moneyball changed things.
Hudson Randall, Gator great pitcher 2010-12, finished his career at Florida with a 28-10 record and a career ERA of 2.62. One of my favorite Gator pitchers. He was drafted in the 7th round by the Detroit Tigers in the 2012 draft. He played in the Tigers' Minor League system until March 27, 2014, when he was released from the Lakeland Flying Tigers and retired from baseball. Today Hudson lives in Norcross, Georgia and since 2017has been an Assistant Superintendant with the Conlan Company, one of the larger commercial construction firms in the South, specializing in distribution warehouses.
