An excerpt related to Pete: “Passan: Pete Alonso, on Sept. 18, in the final game of his first trip to Coors Field, where he will hit No. 50 with a swing that breaks the space-time continuum, or at least prompts the question: If Pete Alonso were a Rockie, would Barry Bonds' single-season record be in trouble?” What's at stake in September? Greg-- Great question--although I might have put it Barry Bonds juiced record doesn't count for sh!t--Go Pete Go!!!
Pete with number 44 tonight in the 9th. He went 3-5. The bomb in the 9th came on an 0-2 count... Why oh why??
I'm just imagining Pete went out of the zone and got one just because he knew they were going to be throwing junk...he's that good. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
There was a write-up on ESPN in the last week or two which stated that Alonso has a high chase rate but a relatively low miss rate. He strikes out quite a bit BUT he gets a disproportionate number of balls to hit rather than strikes. As he matures, he will hopefully lay off more and increase his OBP but missing the zone is no guarantee of success against Pete.
No kidding. Did you watch the hr derby? I don’t think his cousing threw him a strike all night and he still won!
I found this thread via the search function as this thread does not show up for me under Diamond Gators. Really weird. Maybe if I post in it it will show up for me.
Former GATOR Players + Bader Makes the Catch/Pete hits #44 shows as the top/first thread on my screen, I have been editing the title to indicate new info from time to time but the thread is stickied as the Top thread in this forum
A.J. Puk picked up his first major league win today pitching two innings in relief giving up one run (455ft HR to Mike Trout) and 2 Ks.
Beneficiary of a 7 run 7th inning. As overcame a 6-1 deficit. Hey, at the end of the year it will still be a win. Keeps the As in the playoff race tied with the Rays for 1st WC slot.
