Alonso with his 20th HR tonight. A 421 ft shot to left. He is tied with Bellinger for 2nd in the Majors in HRs. 2 behind Yelich. Still on pace for 54 HRs. He might have a shot at Judge. Who knows!!
Beating Judge is a long way off. I mentioned that earlier. Hitting 40 (half way there) would still be awesome.
Of course Judge’s 57 is daunting but his pace through 60 games suggests it is in play. 26 I think is the Mets record (Strawberry). McGwire was the record holder pre-Judge at 49 I believe. He is also at 20 HR in 215 ABs (give or take). Assuming 500 ABs (which is a bit low for a full season), he comes in close to 50. Regardless, the dude is mashing the baseball.
Bizarrely, Judge also set the rookie record for strikeouts with 208!!!! He also set the MLB record for consecutive games with at least one strikeout, 37, also in his rookie year.
This article is picking de Grom as the Mets All-Star leaving Alonso on the outside looking in. Still a month to go... Still-too-early All-Stars: Who's on track for the Midsummer Classic?
Another jack for Alonso today. A solo shot. Number 21 on the year and puts him past Bellinger for 2nd in the NL and Majors behind Yelich (at 23).
Robbed of a triple: 98 games left, 52 more for the tie, 53 more for the record. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
Alonso with his 22nd of the year and I assume his first ever in Yankee Stadium. 424 ft shot to center, 3 run job. Still 2 behind Yelich but 2 ahead of Bellinger for 2nd in the MLB.
