EDITED out the insult . . . you can see that we are replacing our staff with nobodies. This is the same kind of talk we had before Mullen and McElwain. How's that working out?
Yeah, what do Nick Saban and Kirby Smart know about defensive coaches....they both love the nobody too
Bateman had a bad if not horrid recruiting year. I’d have no issues with him leaving. He’s a solid coach, just don’t think he’s connecting with top in state recruits.
The D was a hot mess, no way was the talent level as bad as the results, heck we were at or near the bottom in many areas. Seems like this was a mutual parting of the ways. Looks like BN is taking a chance on another young coach and hopefully it turns out well.
If this was a push out it would have happened in December/January. BN isn’t going to push guys out this late when most college positions are solidified and a week before Spring Camp. This was an NFL opportunity that presented itself and was taken. Toney probably did want out because of the heat, but I don’t think BN booted these guys.
It definitely wasn't a firing. Also seems them and their families weren't crazy about staying here, plus those opportunities obviously only became available recently. But, we might never know if there was some kind of suggestion by Billy like "hey, I know you're having a tough time here, if you want to look around and find another place I'll 'understand' and help you out." Colbert definitely a different story, but still seems all 3 are better off. Also Billy's a guy to have a list of replacements ready, not too worried about that.
I find it interesting that seemingly no one remembers Toney was co-DC. You’re not going to get a big name DC replacement just have the “co” in front of their title. One would think BN might just remove the co in front of Spencer’s title and hire position coach to backfill. I have no idea of the inner workings of the UF staff though.
Spurrier has one of the game's great egos but it did not stop him from hiring an equal in Bob Stoops. Great CEOs are not afraid of working with great peers even if they may be overshadowed by personalities. BN needs to understand this.
Aren’t you the guy who said Armstrong would be a good replacement for Toney right before Armstrong was hired? So Napier did exactly what you said you wanted, you’ve said zero positive about the hire, and now you’re right back to insulting the team. That’s about as hypocritical as it gets Shane
