How do you explain the dramatic transformation of Graham Mertz?? This kid did nothing at Wisconsin, and I don't recall him being a hot commodity in the transfer portal. Billy saw something in him and turned him into one of the most accurate quarterbacks in America. Isn't that a textbook example of good coaching?

    Is this a troll?

11-14 in two seasons. Has put disgraceful defenses and special teams on the field. Total embarrassments. At best mediocre offenses with poorly timed and called trick plays. Completely undisciplined play on both sides of the ball ranging from poor execution to just idiotic selfish self-inflicted personal fouls. In too many games, some of the worst effort I have ever seen from a Gator team.

He can change the offense up, he can hire all star coaches, and grow his support staff. Until he fixes the discipline and effort issues nothing else matters. He has had an ill prepared program for two years. He needs to find a magic wand for year 3.

I have never sent effort a problem, sloopy play, dumb penities, some play calls I bet he would take back.
But they always gave good effort. Just my opinion

I find it enduring that CBN turned Mertz into a short-pass specialist and an awesome QB in terms of a passing QB with a very high completion rate.

Is it a "textbook example" of good coaching? perhaps
Let's see what QB GM has for us this next year.

I would point to the Vanderbilt game last year and Kentucky game this year specifically.

Let's go back to Lexington at the beginning of the year.
That was not what I would call good effort.
We were flat footed and looked like we didn't even want to be there.

Same poster that had a gut feeling we were gonna beat FSU and another that we should sympathize with FSU not getting in the playoffs.

The defense has been a problem for several years. Not just his first two. So in all fairness to Billy, we have had a tackling problem dating back God knows how long.

The offense was young. Heck, the team was young, and it is going to get even younger when a lot of the incoming players get major playing time. We lose Etienne but Webb will get more reps and Kahnen Daniels is a phenomenon that everyone wanted but we got.

Bowens committed to us in September 2022. Daniels committed in April 2023. Bowen runs away in June 2023, and Etienne leaves in November. They both know what is coming. Daniels is the most complete running back athlete that we have landed since Spurrier's days. If we get better at the OL which should not be too hard to do, this guy and Webb are going to be outrageous.

I think many of you are underestimating how much a program can turn around with just the right people in place. Lagway will be able to patiently learn and come in in certain situations, and our receiving corp. will be deeper than ever with Wilson, Mizell, Jean, Jackson, Fraziars, Burke, and some solid freshmen, Hawkins, Williams, and Abrams. What are teams going to do with Mizell, Wilson, and Hawkins on the field at the same time? No other team in America has that kind of speed at WR (4.3, 4.3, 4.3). You include Daniels coming out of the backfield as a receiver (he also played WR in HS) and it will cause nightmares for any defense. We wondered when our time would come again. Well, there will not be a team in the SEC that can overcome the speed we have at WR.

7 losses 3 years in a row. First time for the Florida Gators since the 1940's. Quit making excuses people. We've got problems!
