About 25,000 and Walmart and McDonald’s employees are on food stamps and other welfare programs. You know what would be a good incentive to get them off of these programs? Higher damn wages. Instead, us taxpayers pay part of the compensation of these employees. This is while the Walton family and others become mega billionaires. If a company is going to pay this little to so many of its employees, then the company should get taxed up the butterski.
I’d rather those same people aspire to higher wages. After all, working an entry-level position at Walmart is not some form of serfdom. One can work hard, get promoted, or failing that find an employer that values them more. I have no problem with sustaining people on welfare with basic necessities. I begin to have a problem when one can use welfare, even indirectly, for luxury items. I want people on welfare to have a hunger for those things and strive to improve their lives.
Not and receive my aid on certain things. Same here. They 100% can legally spend what they want on what they want. The govt just isnt obligated to help them. The choice is in the hands of the spender, therefore no right is withheld.
Deal! Welfare reform and (for example) an FDA that actually works for the health of the people and not Kellogg's or Monsanto is a double win!
