At 23 weeks she was told the fetus had “potters syndrome”, which means it would not develop organs properly, and die shortly after birth.

Her doctor told her Florida’s 15 week abortion ban prevents her from ending the pregnancy, and she doesn’t qualify for any of the exceptions, even though she says she is pain and discomfort…

What a disgusting State DeSantis has turned Florida into….

Just the way DeSantis and his disciples want it. I wish her strength and healing.

If true, very sad. I really wish we could find some middle ground. This is bad for the mom.

I think I posted this event in another thread, but that’s fine, no amount of attention is too much. Florida politicians have made health care so risky that physicians aren’t willing to terminate a fetus that will die shortly after birth. We have already seen examples in TX where health care providers will not always administer treatments for miscarriages due to legal ambiguity, and basically wait until the mom almost bleeds out before treating her. It was Indiana or Ohio where a young pregnant child couldn’t get an abortion in state.

For all those who say the support “exceptions” it doesn’t really matter because practically some exceptions will not be followed due to ambiguity in the laws or fear of legal troubles or liability issues.

Of course with many forced birth advocates this is a feature not a bug.

There needs to be a fund set up so we can help women like that get transportation to civilization for the medical services they require.

BTW, this is one of the many reasons we have a right to privacy here in Florida. That right guarantees that the government will stay out of our most intimate and personal decisions ("Every natural person has the right to be let alone and free from governmental intrusion into the person's private life"). But rights only matter if we have a government willing to recognize them. And our current regime tends not to recognize a lot of our rights.

Get a medical ship fully equipped to provide all women's medical services and sail it up and down Florida's coasts just outside of DeSantis' territorial grasp.

He'd probably try to send some new anti-abortion police force to arrest women on boats seeking international water.

It was suggested to my own mother that she terminate her pregnancy with me due to complications. Thankfully my mother is a Christian though you don’t have to necessarily be a Christian to know that killing a child is an abomination.

Nobody is talking about killing children. Learn some biology.

Several Christian faiths and other religions disagree with your judgemental position, by the way:

Somewhat related, a female friend recently went in for a planned medical procedure. She was denied said procedure because she did not have proof of a negative pregnancy test. She is 76 years old!
