As you know, I’m usually quite ready to see good faith on both sides, but I don’t see it here. No business owner is really going to move their operations to a state because of a couple words on a welcome sign on the side of the road. This is DeSantis signaling, and while not a huge deal, it’s certainly nothing to defend either.

San Diego is one of my favorite cities on earth. It's also pretty conservative comparably.

Most people who live in San Diego LOVE living in San Diego. Its stunning. Has literally everything to do and almost perfect weather year round.

IMO, it is this type of assclownery that hurt DeSantis nationally among pubs. He literally stood in front of a sign that read The Florida Blueprint. He was in SC. A state run by pubs. Make America Florida, etc. It did not land well with pubs out here. It is weird to assume that his BIG GOV fetishes are embraced nationally by Rs.

“Bothers” wouldn’t be my word, but mos def a lady doth protest too much thing. Anytime I see some sort of over the top branding it’s a red flag.

This state is so free that signs are required to make sure you don’t get it twisted when you otherwise might think “Hmmm, this doesn’t seem like the height of freedom…”

No state with MTG had better even utter a word.

The freedom to commit voter fraud. Just ask The Villages and after November it will be the freedom of a woman's right to choose. Ron is right

We could all leave tomorrow and you wouldn't be any smarter. The state's average IQ taking a nosedive doesn't increase yours.

The new signs could read "Florida, home of A Florida Man....lots of 'em."

To be fair, why WOULDN'T they attempt voter fraud? That's small potatoes compared to the election fraud they were allowed to commit, and remain unpunished for. (Thanks in large part to a corrupt judiciary preventing them from going to trial after being indicted.) They are a party of CRIMINALS.

Fake electors get tapped as GOP convention delegates
    https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/10/politics/fake-electors-get-tapped-as-gop-convention-delegates

Seven battleground states are sending fake electors and others who worked to upend the 2020 election results to represent their state parties at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where they will officially anoint Donald Trump as their presidential nominee.

The fake electors and other election deniers identified by CNN include several who are currently facing criminal charges for their efforts in helping Trump try to overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 victory.

It's the home of Free Shoes University. Or it used to be. I think the free shoes have been completely superseded by NIL.

Maybe true freedom requires incarcerating people for smoking a plant that some others don't like the smell of.

I ate my first burrito in San Diego. It was also the only city I've ever known to have poker parlors. You could go downtown, walk into one and join a poker game at one of the tables.

When I was in Berkeley, we went over to Frisco to the area called North Beach. There was a club there that had a nude all-girls band. I don't remember if the music was any good or not.

Also, has anyone ever seen a post-apocalyptic movie or TV show where a band of survivors came across a place named "Free State of Someplace" and they did NOT wind up being the local denizens' main course at a festival?
