(SB) Florida vs. South Florida Official Game Thread

Ground out to 3rd ends the inning. After the error, Coach Walton had a meeting at the mound and Rothrock got 2 outs on 2 pitches. Gators lead 4-1 going to the 5th.

 

Ariel has been stellar in the opening weekend, not only at the plate but at 3rd. When I was analyzing our recruiting class, it seemed Hovermale was the quality third baseman and Kowalewski would be playing behind the plate with Erickson or battling for a DP spot. It appears she's worked her tail off and just won the job at 3rd. Great for her and the team.

 

AK reaches on an error by the SS. Ava Brown follows with a 2 run HR on a 3-2 pitch, her first as a Gator. 6-1 Florida.

 

Katie Kistler knocks a single to RF.

 

Goelz flies out to CF on a 2-0 pitch for the 1st out.

 

Kendra grounds out to first, Katie goes to 2nd. Korbe up with 2 down.

 

Kistler steals 3rd, then Otis walks.

 

Wallace walks, catcher throws to 2nd as Otis was running, allowing Kistler to score from 3rd. 7-1.

 

Jocelyn Erickson gets an infield single to load the bases. Walsh hits the first pitch back to the pitcher for the 3rd out. 7-1 Gators, with 10 runners left on base.

 

AK throws out another runner off a slow roller. 1 out.

 

Ariel fields another ground ball and throws out the batter. 2 outs.

 

Line out to 2b ends the inning. Going to the 6th, UF up 7-1.

 

Kowalewski grounds out to SS on the first pitch.

 

Ava draws a 3-1 walk. McClellan running for her. Kistler then hits a ball to the right side of the infield, hits the runner for the 2nd out, Katie on 1st. Pitching change for USF, who is bringing in their ace, Payton Dixon.

 

Goddard hitting for Goelz.

 

Baylee Goddard blasts a 2 run HR off the USF ace, who had thrown 12 innings so far without giving up a run. Gators up 9-1.
