Not looking good. We need now at least 12 maybe 13 portal guys with six of them being starters to make the team get to the level where they could win seven or eight games next year

 

we had 9 cb’s in 2022, and young was 8th on the rotation ahead of Pouncey, who I believe has not played one snap in his career.

We’ll be fine without Young.

 

Tarquin?
White- not for sure but big loss if so.

 

Frankly, our line looked better this year than it did last year and Tarquin, Eguakun, and White were not the bright spots in the line. I think the coaching and Torrence did that. If there is a problem with buy in for any of Tarquin, Eguakun, and White, I am OK with prepping younger guys to play, as long as we can get 7 solid guys on the OL.

We aren’t as short on bodies as some of the loudest mouths in our fanbase seem to think.

Very poor transfer recruiting so far.

We have only one of the top 150 transfers.

Someone isn't doing their job.

 

There are some uncomfortable spots from attrition, but we will be OK.

That being said there are still 5 bodies I expect to jump in the portal yet. We have a lot of room for quality transfers if we can get them. Getting between 20-25 freshmen and 10-12 transfers, we would have a good mix of new/transfer players to fill the gaps. If we got Caden Jones with the addition of Livingston, we are at 22 on the new players, so we are basically there. We have 3 transfers already with others in the works, so I expect 8 to 10 by the end of this portal period, and a couple after spring practice.

I think momentum is a bigger factor in portal recruiting than regular recruiting because there is no opportunity to really build a relationship. 3 straight losses to close the season including a blowout in our last game has brought momentum to a screeching halt.
