Florida teacher says district worker removed several pictures of "black heros" from his classroom

It’s a white teacher

 

So.. yeah. Seems the teacher was told exactly why the materials where removed. Had nothing to do with race… he just wants a nice severance package…


he Hill reports that the school district shares a different side to the story, alleging that the materials were removed solely because only “state-required curricular materials” are allowed on the bulletin board.

“To be clear, due to the nature of this specific population of students, it is critical the instructional materials be within their line of sight during instruction, for the purposes of student focus and retention,” the school district noted, according to The Hill.

“The Behavior Analyst observed his bulletin board was ‘Awesome,’ because of the history tied to it, but the language and reading levels on the posters were too complex for this particular group of students,” the statement continued.

Not surprising. Story never rang true. Sensationalism, pot stirring, race baiter for a profit.
Despicable.

 

Most teachers have been thinking about it for a while.

 

Why do you think the teacher would get a “severance package”? He resigned on his own accord, and he apparently did it on principle rather than a claim that he himself was discriminated against. I don’t think he’d have much of a case to sue for damages, if that’s what you are getting at.

The idea that having a few inspirational figures visible or a photo of Obama (on his desk!?) is problematic seems absurd. I don’t find the districts story credible in the slightest. Maybe they didn’t have an official policy to remove these posters, but I’m guessing at the very least this “behavioral analyst” has her own political agenda and they are trying to provide cover perhaps simpatico with that agenda.

Also I thought conservatives hated bureaucrats and administrative waste. What the heck is a “behavioral analyst” that goes around removing totally innocuous posters from classrooms?

 

My wife started her 34th year last week. I will not go into her accolades but be assured she is as respected a teacher in her school as there is countywide. She does not “cut corners” but she does work smart and effectively. The kids school day is 8:15-3:00 and my wife gets in at 7:00 each morning and leaves around 3:30 pm. Along with an hour of planning period given each day, she normally has adequate time to get her daily work done in the 8 1/2 hours she is on campus. Sure there are occasions there will be an after school meeting or event but her normal work day is about like any other occupation.

Summers off are a major benefit. She is on the interview committee so there will be a couple of mornings she will be asked to go in but other than a couple of days getting her room ready in late July, her summers are free to do what she wishes.

My wife teaches because she has a passion for helping kids and hopefully being a positive influence in their lives. And be assured, you don’t need to work 55-60 hours, as you describe, to accomplish those goals.

 

I’m wondering how this became a news story in the first place. Did he send his letter to newspapers as he was sending it to the governor?

 

Maybe because she is in her tenth year and not her 35th she is overly ambitious? She was just certified to teach gifted children. 8.5 hours of overcrowded classrooms can be exhausting. We both agree they deserve more money. Right? I’m forgetting who I am responding to using my phone.

 

That’s for starting pay. The teachers who have been teaching for years did not get a raise when raised the starting pay.

 

What school you work in, who your students are, how many you have, your admin, etc...can all make the differ between a 40-45 HR week and a 55-65 HR week.

 

Do you work in a public a school system? You seem to be drawing a lot of assumptions and basing your conclusions on predetermined biases.
The district went on record as to what the policy use was for bulletin boards in the school. The teacher violated that policy. The posters were removed. The teacher got angry and quit.
Not racist. Not politically motivated. A policy set by the school district to help keep kids focused on the lessons.
I know it don't fit the narrative conjured up here. I know the teacher claims.its racist...with no basis whatsoever.The teacher didn't even hear what the behavioral analyst actually said.
Lots of nothing whipped into a fever.

• Studying environmental factors that to behavioral health and creating awareness for the people to ensure those factors are properly taken care of

 

Asking the important questions.

 

Did the BA remove the photo of President Obama from the teacher’s desk. If so, why? Was it because Obama was born in Kenya?

Please also note that Fl last yr. moved from 30th to 16th. for starting pay but because the pay scale goes stagnant : "In the 2022 report earlier this week, Florida ranked 48th, with the average salary of public school teachers at $51,009 in the 2020-21 school year." Ouch.
