As @tilly eloquently pointed out, unless you believe in abortion until point of birth, you’re a “forced-birther” too.

You’re just not a Christian which for some reason makes you think you’re a better person. It’s an irony of sorts in today’s culture where the atheists are the ones acting “holier than thou.”

47% of Americans think abortion is morally acceptable.

That would suggest 53%, a majority, have some ethical concerns regarding abortion.

Record-High 47% in U.S. Think Abortion Is Morally Acceptable

Meh. I support at will abortions as does most who are not evangelical Christians. This chart should show you how this is another religious crusade of the Christian faith.

The problem with anti abortionists is that the facts they have to work with are “alternative facts” and mostly opinions based on their crackpot religious beliefs. It would be convenient to ignore the nutters but many pose a clear and present danger to the rest of us normal people who are living our best life in a free democratic society. They need to be checked. HARD.

Edit to add these conversations are circular and serve no real purpose except to ridicule some of the more outrageous beliefs which gets tiring at least to me. I stay mostly out of these threads..

Same poll - only 19% want it completely banned.

    • 48% want abortion legal with limits, 32% completely legal, 19% illegal

No less a liberal than Ken Burns said slaveholders were the pro-choicers of their time.

You can justify opposition to abortion for the same exact reasons you justify opposition to murder.

Unless you want to shut out religious people from having any sort of influential opinion when it comes to policy, they're entitled to an opinion and a say, especially if supported on secular and scientific grounds, every bit as much as you are.

They arent entitled if it is only based on religion.. which it is. There are all kinds of behaviors Christians think are immoral that are not illegal. You'll never convince people that your morality on abortions is their's. Murder... everyone agrees on it being immoral, religious or not. Heck, Im Christian and I know for a fact the Bible is silent about abortions unless you bastardize the text.

To those that deleted my posts. My opinion of pro life from conception anti abortions are comparable to Forced Birth Christian Taliban. IMO this comparison is not name calling but a reasonable opinion well within the rules.

Yeah moderation seems way in favor of the delicate people among us. I had a post deleted for using a word closely related to snowfall. How these people get through day to day life is beyond me. I’ll use a word - Karen’s. Let’s see if it stands.

You are brave Christian Taliban has to wound them to the quick

Exactly so are the things that cause acculturating snow. I guess I’m going to have to type that in instead in my responses.

Moralistic nannies want to control our bodies, control our medical care, control what we see and don’t see, control what we read, etc. This group is arguably worse than the moral majority and is really just a form of Christian Sharia law.

You, sir, do not speak for all Christians or religious people. Knock that off right now.
You are entitled to your opinion, but it is most decidedly not science based.
You and your sect are absolutely free to forego as many abortions as you chose. You can speak in tongues, break dance during services or play with rattlesnakes. I do not care.
At that point, mind your own business.

Yes it is science based, you can cry that it’s not all you want, that doesn’t make it true.

And who draws the line between "moralistic nanny" and normal stance on abortion? L_boy?

At what point in fetal development do you jump from "respecting a woman's right to choose" to "moralistic nanny?" At what point do you jump from, sane stance on abortion to a killer?

Again, presumably there's a line prior to point of birth where you oppose abortion. Why aren't you a "moralistic nanny?"

I’ll go with the standard for the last 50 years of Roe v Wade.

Again my preference is the viability standard of Roe v Wade. But I could live with 15 weeks with liberal exceptions.

I’m not the one changing the standard used for 50 years. A vast majority supports either no restrictions on abortion or abortion with some restrictions. The Roe standard falls well within that.

Why? What makes that case so special? Why those justices over these justices?

So what if the reverse happened? Let's say we had a liberal majority on the Supreme Court and they actually broadened the right to abortion beyond the Roe standard. Would you be a "moralistic nanny" for opposing it?
