For those who live or are visiting the Gainesville area, the Florida Relays are being staged April 4th and 5th. If you have never attended a track and field meet this is one of the premier events of its type in the United States.

It has collegiate, high school, and professional’s competing. Quincy Wilson out of Bullis High School in Maryland who competed for the United States in the last Summer Olympics , is scheduled to compete in the 400 meters. Several Gators are due to return to competition. The international field has several excellent competitors.

If you have a chance drop by, you’ll be pleasantly surprised how exciting track and field can be.

Used to love going to a track/baseball weekend. Sit on top row of the Mac and watch track between batters

Would ride my bike up to Percy Beard track when I was young. Loved watching T&F events!

83? When track was clay and the lines were chalk! :). Love the Fla relays! I loved competing in track and field. It was a full day, but pretty fun.

I inadvertently posted this in the recruiting section, as a mea culpa I’ll add some information on some of the recruits that competed.
    1. Newly signed J’Vari Flowers from Miami Northwestern ran a 10.44 in the high school 100 meters. He also ran a leg on the 4x4 team that upset Bullis in the finals with a near record time. (National)
    2. Ja’Neil Harris out of T.W. Andrew’s in North Carolina was 2nd in the 100 meters at 10.39, he also ran in the open 400 meters and finished 4th with a 46.88. He is a Gator track recruit.
    3. Brandon Bennett out of American Heritage went 10.50 in the 100 meters. UF is recruiting him as a wide receiver. His brother Braylen went 10.41
    4. Tywan Cox also out of Miami NW was second in the open 400 Meters to Quincy Wilson 45.27 to 46.29, but Cox returned the favor in the 4x4 when he went sub 46 on his leg to beat Bullis and Wilson. They were basically even at the exchange. Tywan’s twin sister Tyra won the girls 400 in 52.60 ( She is a Gator signee)
    5. Gator great Tim Beauchamp’s son Tim Beauchamp Jr. was second in the discus at 189’2” to Jason Atwood who leads the nation with a Florida state record of 216’02”.
Beauchamp Jr. has thrown 209’+ this year, and has a SP of 58’ +.

to add on and correct a bit
Tyra ran a 52.60 to win..Tyra also has run an 11.4 100 this season.
Sydney Sutton who is a signee also out of Bullis ran a 22.7 in the 200 to come in 2nd and she runs a 52 in the 400 also in the relay..along with Tyra again
Payton Payne out of Bullis also ran in the 4x1 for Bullis and runs mid 11s in the 100 and has been timed in the 53 range in the 400 this year

Would not be surprised to see Tywan sign with us if he gets some things together..Wilson also seems to be favoring us but you never know what will happen.
Our signee ran the Olympic open 400 for the men and ran 45.27.. Jayden Horten Mims...Mouse didnt go too heavy in the portal this year and he knew he was going to a bit of a hit..but he is signing a bunch of top line talent
