Even cheerleaders are less sexual in nature than half of today's commercials. Time to ban TV for kids.

I’m not Davis but this is generally true. Both disciplines require understanding patterns

Mine are a little younger and following a similar way. Minus they are not allowed to have social media yet. But just finished Sadie Robertsons book on social media and after my oldest finishes the book we will have a discussion and allow her to start. That is the current plan.

Have to agree to disagree. One is generally part of a sexual identity. One is just a college gig.

Disagree. While a some may actually be transgender the overwhelming majority of drag performers are actors in costume not advocates for a position. I suspect that if the 1970's television comedy "Bosom Buddies" were proposed today it would be the subject of calls for an immediate boycott from the religious right. That's Tom Hanks on the left by the way.

Probably would upset some people no doubt. Ill be the first to admit we go overboard with our sensitivity sometimes.

I used to think this, too, but people all ages are susceptible to this stuff. Here's an article from the BBB from a few years ago...

BBB Risk Report: Adults 18-24 were highest scam risk in 2020

    Here's a highlight from 2 years ago:

I would let this one go. You appear to be arguing with someone who has been to a lot more drag shows than you have been to. I would defer to the expert.

Not all that surprising. My guess is that younger adults are the demographic most likely to believe whatever they read online especially through social media. Older adults are more likely to be scammed through "phishing" emails or through phone scams.

I wasn't proposing it. Just pointing out how our entire society has been sexualized.

But I did add an emoji in my first post to clarify my intent.

Thanks for answering. I can't speak for drag queens, but imagine that they take drag seriously. I've been to probably five or so drag shows and never had a bad time. It's part glam, part comedy, and (a very small part) art. Everyone will feel those parts in different portions and some will, I guess, feel that there's a fourth part. I'll stop with the questions after this last one: Why would you shield your child from a drag queen reading a book at the library?

Don’t think I have ever heard about a drag show at a public library.

So people are what their job is. My guess is if a stripper read to your children you would never know. Unless you had been putting bills in her g string recently.

I was anti-abortion and against kids attending drag shows. However, I’m now choice re both but do not want to fund either via federal or state taxes. Both are personal choices and should remain as such.

RE drags, clowns, or politicians reading to elementary aged kids in public schools …. I’d much rather see medical professionals, LEOs, and fire fighters, EMTs, etc do that.

If the legislators intent with this was to take my mind off their 32 year failure to deal with property insurance, which has become a full crisis in the last 10, then I can’t tell you how big of a failure it is.

Tighten the screws on the ambulance chasers, prorate roof claims to only cover remaining life.

Set up an arbitration board (including medical evaluators) to determine frivolous cases. $100K fine to the ambulance chaser who brings a case determined to be frivolous. 3/4 of John Morgan’s “attorneys” would be filling Happy Meals at McDonalds in six months. Each $100K goes into incentives to get insurers back to Florida.

How about all the kids falling for Nigerian sextortion schemes? There are training classes you can access on TikTok, Instagram, and Youtube.

Sextortion training materials found on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, according to new report

IMO, the issue (as usual) is not whether something is bad or dangerous etc. it’s whether gov should ban it. Ideological issues aside, Prohibition has a sorry record. Prohibition of something like this at the state level is pure pol stunt. I would hope we can all agree on that.

A fella smarter than myself told me (within in 5 mins of meeting him) that parenting is not for Pu$$…. I feel bad for kids with shitty parents, but BIG GOV is not the ans here

Florida Legislature passes ban on social media for kids

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Legislature passed a ban on social media for kids under 16 on Thursday, sending it to a skeptical Gov. Ron DeSantis and setting upthe possibility of a court challenge.

Citing companies’ “addicting features” and concern over kids’ mental health, House lawmakers cheered as they voted 108-7 to give the bill final approval.

“These companies know what they are doing is wrong,” said Rep. Tyler Sirois, R-Merritt Island. “They have not acted. We will.”

Whether Florida teens will be kept off social media any time soon is far from certain, however.
