A federal judge has permanently blocked the restrictions Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Republican lawmakers placed on handling race-related issues in workplace training – part of the controversial Individual Freedom Act, better known as the “Stop WOKE Act.

The act was one of several bills the Republican governor signed in 2022 as part of his war on “woke ideology.” It was intended to prevent teachings or mandatory workplace activities that suggest a person is privileged or oppressed based on their race, color, sex or national origin.

On Friday, Chief US District Judge Mark Walker issued a two-page order granting a permanent injunction against the law’s workplace training provisions. The order says the law “violates free speech rights under the First and Fourteenth Amendments to the US Constitution.”

To confirm, Ron is wanting to tell business how they can/or can’t train their employees on diversity issues?

Businesses, schools and universities. So far the business portion has been struck down and the university portion is still in court

Do you really think this judge won't be overruled by another judge or judges? Every time this happens, the left squeals like pigs being violated only to be disappointed later. Carry on.

Read the article then come back to us and tell us why or how it would be overruled

We'll see. I'm not so confident in that. 50/50 chance.

I think DeSantis should take it to the SCOTUS if necessary:

DeSantis did not oppose the motion to make the March ruling permanent, but during a news conference Monday in Tampa, he reiterated Florida’s right to provide protections for employees.

“If they are doing woke training, which is basically discriminating against folks on the basis of race, you have the right to opt out of that. It’s not a question of what the company can say,” he said. “They can say whatever they want.”

Be prepared for the lawsuits that will be forthcoming based on discriminations. This is far from over.

He didn't. He lost in the Eleventh Circuit and then gave up because he knew it was brazenly unconstitutional the whole time.

Yes, to free speech. No, to discrimination based on woke ideology. You know this isn't over.

I know it is over. DeSantis lost before the Eleventh Circuit. He didn't seek Supreme Court review. And then when the case got sent back down to the district court, he didn't oppose the motion to make the preliminary injunction permanent. That case is done. He's putting all his eggs in the basket of the education part of the bill, which is a separate lawsuit. But continue ignorantly asserting otherwise.

You can't honestly say you believe woke discrimination will be tolerated. This decision is about free speech, not the right to discriminate against employees using a woke agenda. Again, yes to free speech and no to woke discrimination.

As these corporation in Florida who are wanting to discriminate based on a woke agenda will find out, to go woke is to go broke. They have won their speech rights, but implementing woke policy is a whole different thing.

you are in favor of this? This is clearly taking decision rights away from the private sector & giving them to BIG GOV. Decision rights are what define ownership. Hence, this is a commie move. Why would you be in favor of this?

I seriously doubt even a conservative set of judges is going to uphold a law that gives government control of business workplace training.
