Didn't know this was happening. Good new.

    >>The Florida House of Representatives quickly approved a bill Thursday that would effectively repeal the state’s name, image and likeness (NIL) law.

The 113-0 vote during the special session was uneventful and without public objection. The bill, HB 7B, next moves to the Senate, where it’s also expected to face little opposition. An identical bill (filed in the regular session) breezed through a Senate committee Wednesday.

“This bill,” its sponsor, Rep. Chip LaMarca, said, “will allow Florida to remain competitive with every other state that our collegiate athletes compete against while ensuring that we prepare them for their future, possible opportunities and most importantly the tools to make them successful in promoting their individual brand — their name, image and likeness.”

Florida is not competitive, the Republican from Lighthouse Point has argued, because Florida’s law is more restrictive than some other states. Specifically, it prohibits coaches, schools and support organizations from directing name, image and likeness compensation toward players. That could be a disadvantage in recruiting — one that also means fewer opportunities for state athletes. Teams and coaches will still have to follow NCAA rules, which ban pay-for-play deals, paying players directly and using NIL offers as recruiting or retention inducements.<<

    Lovely, more chaos and confusion.
    Also ZERO regulation or consequences.

I posted something along these lines a year ago. If UF wants to get in the "game", shit can the army of evaluators, and hire a wealth management firm that will put together a nice bribe package for recruits, transfers and their handlers.

Offer luxury housing, Spurriers unlimited free catered meals, stock options, real estate, bonds, cash, precious metals, jewelry, hookers, and unlimited access to the mayor, county commissioners and whomever else will satisfy the recruits and handlers every dream and desire. You know the kind of crap UGA and Bama do.

The whole damned world is turning to shit and we UF fans and the rest of the college football world are asked to not only tolerate, but finance, this kind of corruption. Over collegiate sports ..........SMDH.

No one is asking you do anything. You could just go away.
It's going to be funny when you are here during the season cheering on the players that got NIL deals that you despise so much.
    The hypocrisy will be thick.

So, you think he does NOT like the Gators because of the NIL, and that this new NIL law will make him suddenly hate the Gators?

New flash: Many people don't like the NIL, but will still cheer on their college sports team/s.

You named most everything here on Earth but you forgot free trips to space. Cape Canaveral is already here so we might as well use it to our advantage.

I have heard the Bill has cleared the State Senate and is now headed to the Governor's desk for his signature. He is supposedly set to sign it into state law on Monday. Can any of you guys confirm this?

I believe the NCAA still bans school interaction and since the UF Pres is on the UAA, it's directly tied to the school.

I was trying to be kind.
You are always one of the first to complain about others injecting politics into this forum, yet here you are once again doing exactly that.

Maybe if the "legit good guy(s)" running the state hadn't made the mistake of passing a restrictive law in the first place they would not have to come back now and fix the mess they created. Just a thought.

Politics? What’s wrong with saying we have a good guy running the state?

Name another state that’s doing better than Florida
