I hope the NCAA doesn't read Swamp Gas. Or attend Gator games.

I'm wondering if you read the whole article.

From the article: "Houston’s track record is quite positive, so perhaps he’ll be the missing piece in getting the problems ironed out. The man’s hire hasn’t even been officially announced though, so it’s far too early to draw any conclusions on that."

When the announcement is made and we hear how this is all going to work, then you can bash Napier and our program.. Turning something positive into a royal screw up...

What DOES this new fella do actually? 90K Gators in the stands and millions of Gators watching from afar are analysts. We yell as loud as we can to no avail. I'd like to get away from the video reviews and just play the game.

I am excited about this hire because he brings to Florida lots of advanced concepts from the NFL, such as: wearing the correct jersey number, getting on the field at the right time, having enough players on the field, et al.

I like the guy hired, but I wish he was really the ST Coordinator. To do that BN would have to ditch one of his two OL coaches, and he obviously doesn't want to do that. I hope BN doesn't end up like his predecessor because he wants to hang on to people he has hired!

So he stands there discussing what has to happen to the assistant coach and the special team guys are gathered around. How is that different than the assistant saying it?

The analyst could use ventriloquism. Just throw his voice through the assistant coach. All the coach has to do is move his mouth.

Coaches with headsets are coaches and coaches without headsets are analysts. I think the paycheck looks different for the majority of them also but that’s not a rule.

Perhaps Sale and Stapleton are useful during practice despite the little letters they put in front of their names. I’ve never actually seen this staff run a practice and I have no idea how each piece of the staff actually fits in, especially by reading their titles. I doubt a title ensures nor restricts what a coach actually does while running practice.

Now, if we could get such a coach with that particular talent, he should call plays for the other team.

You know what it took? We needed someone who has a 6th finger on one hand. That way they can use both hands and feet to count to eleven. That is important!

What's an analyst? An inside look at one of the crucial staff positions in college football

This is a good article on top programs use of analysts. Aid to position coaches. Study opponents film in detail to know tendencies. What they do on 3rd downs, zone, man coverage, play analysis, … by position. Will have completed detailed books for all following years opponents during summer and then update during season. Can analyze own teams film and players by position as well to identify development areas. Can’t coach on field, in sky box, or during actual practice sessions. Can’t recruit off campus.
