I didn't like the pacing that team played with but I also understand that it depends on personnel as well. Last year, Golden's team played slow and hesitantly. That doesn't mean it's Golden's overall style. Lofton just wasn't a fast playing PG. Regardless, Nembhard was a budding star at UF and he was going pro. Gonzaga set him back, IMO.

Kugel announced KU. I don’t think it’s a great decision, but I will root for his success. Of his final 4, I believe KU was the team that had presented itself as an option at this point. Of course, Riley had other suitors… and I think he’d have been better served finding a mid major… but congrats and I wish him the best!

Tre was a first round pick. He is also a player whose game that you have criticized here recently. So, is he a great player held back by Mike White, or is he a guy who deserved to ride the pine in OKC because he needs to learn how to play? You can’t have it both ways. Let’s not forget that I have been consistently praising Tre Mann and rooting for him.

How is that meaningless when you said that going to Gonzaga somehow unlocked his game? lol. He was largely the same player. I remember AN being the focal point of our team.

Who is criticizing Don Devoe? Only Devoe I know is Ronnie from Bell Biv Devoe (and New Edition).

As far as miserable, Mike White did not make me miserable with all those NCAA berths and wins. But ok suit you narrative.

Unless he goes there and doesn’t start or see significant minutes, I don’t see how this isn’t a great move for him. Going to a blueblood program is what pretty much every kid dreams of.

Is that what you’re predicting? I think he starts.

Something would have to either improve dramatically w Riley, or regress significantly w Kansas. It would be atypical to go from a bench player at Florida … to a starter Kansas. No disrespect to our program intended.
We have all seen that Railey has tremendous individual talent, but I just don’t think it translates to a big time program in which he is surrounded by equal or better players. I hope, for his sake, I’m wrong in that assessment.

You're right that we still debate this stuff. I still don't understand what Captain Ahab did to make Gator fans miserable. UF basketball was in a transitional mess. Schintzius & Chatman, etc. needed an attitude adjustment. If I'm not mistaken, Chatman was injured at that time. Dwayne quit. We weren't going anywhere and Ahab was nothing but a stopgap. He demanded a level of discipline that those guys were't ready to respect. Just situational, imo. I don't blame him, though, for expecting that our players learn to work w/in certain rules.

Sidenote: One of my freshman roomies played a round of golf with Schtinzius at the UF course. He said that Dwayne was pretty radical . . . not surprising (and not meant as a criticism).

AN was a very good player at Florida.

Is Kansas' offense easier to understand than UF's? What's the difference that might allow him to prosper there?

    Congrats to Kugel!

If it clicks, he’ll do well there. If it doesn’t click, he won’t do well anywhere.

Hard to predict how this will turn out, but I’ll be cheering for him.

I hope he crushes it there and while I won't necessarily root for the JHawks, I'll root for Riley to be a major contributor. It will be very interesting to see what he contributes to a major blue blood.

I agree 100%. That's my point. He was good here, and good at Gonzaga, but it's not like he was terrible at UF and not a pro prospect, then went to Gonzaga and all of a sudden became draftable. He was a borderline national star already when he left.

I don't. Kansas typically has guys better than him at every position.

We shall see. You could be right, but I think Riley has a good chance to start. Only thing he needed to tie up was some sloppy ball handling and finishing at the rim. Nothing was unfixable, but it does need to be fixed. Can't ignore it and expect to be a star at Kansas.

He has more than that to work on, but I’m hoping he does it!
I really dislike KU, but I hope he does well, individually.
