AR is an elite athlete that has not proven to be an elite player. He was an average sec qb last year. He was drafted very highly Winn potential with a lot of risk involved. That’s just facts. Anyone not being simply a homer can see tgat.

Trask did well with a “decent” line. We had a not so great running game and he got rid of the ball pretty quick when things broke down. He was in his third year though. Lagway should have a decent running game to help him get acclimated. I hope he is ready next year or at least develops over a few years like Burrow .

I think Napier will win 6/8 games as expected with this young roster. Doing exactly what’s expected shouldn’t get a second year coach in hot water. It’ll take into year two of Lagway to see many wins against good teams. That’s if Lageay pans out.

    Okay, let me explain.

The video is plainly about making something out of absolutely nothing. Call it "click bait". Once you get a few clicks, the new numbers create more intrigue by the number of folks who are perusing it. Call it "herd mentality". Then it reaches a tipping point and it becomes a life form.

    Call it "The Frankenstein Factor".

Welcome to the internet! It very entertaining, if you don't take it seriously.

Up to a point. First and foremost, coaches play players who give you the best chance of winning that game, with the possible exception this year under Napier, in that he was establishing a foundation for the future. You could see he was less worried about how many additional wins we could have with different players as he wanted to make sure he wasn't building a faulty system. Whether it worked or not is to be seen, likely beginning this next season.

I go WAY back to Driskel versus Brissett (and even later with Franks versus Trask). I firmly believe that the reason one was played over the other was about the quality (or lack there) of the O-lines and escapability was a much better trait than pocket passing skills (in the minds of the HCs). And so the questions. But also, what we have are fans who are quick to judge and make overtures (ie, the "booing" of Leak instead of playing Tebow). Leak wasn't the real reason for the booing (it was for Meyer who played the more mature Leak) but still, 18 years old is NOT the same as 21-24 years old. It just isn't. In your way of thinking (projected way out there), it is "tough love" to boo middle and high school sports players because it will teach them to get a thicker skin and see whether they have what it takes or not.

Did you, or are you going to, administer that kind of approach to your own progeny?

IMO, what I saw from Trask in his early days in the O&B game told me he needed to get an audition via blowout wins so that he could be evaluated based on live fire. Unfortunately, there weren't any good blowout wins and so he became an enigma. Looks damn bad in hind sight.

As I have posted plenty of times, we collectively have fatigue from the promise and disappointment of the post-Meyer coaches. But short-circuiting the setup is only going to pick at the scab. Not that you are doing this with your "tough love" approach but it does set up that kind of rationale.

As I have said in the past, we should give Napier time but he cannot continue to languish in mediocrity. You cannot promise results in year 5 while sucking out loud years 1-4.

We fired Zook for 8-5, 8-5, and 4-3. As much as we need to give Napier time he cannot produce worse results than Zook and expect to keep his job past year 3. Otherwise we keep lowering the bar and it’s back to Dickey and the 70s.

If Napier has a losing season in ‘23 he enters ‘24 in a thermonuclear hot seat. It is then entirely up to him to turn that heat down.

Too many folks do not understand the concept of a "game manager". All they see is success. It is VERY different between strapping on a team and winning a game (see Travis against us) and someone who is tasked to not lose a game (see AR against UK). Nothing wrong with game managers at all.

I’ll be optimistic while shining light on reality. Napier has year 3 guaranteed unless he does something McYellowHorseTeeth-esque. What he does in year 3 and what the fanbase’s response is depends on him.

Prove what? Saying the same thing over and over and over doesn’t make it true, or right. That’s all you’re doing. Napier will ultimately prove you wrong

I don’t really agree with that scenario as Zook was handed the keys to a Ferrari and Napier was given a Yugo. It’s just not the same situation.

Napier has an indoor practice facility and the dedicated Heavener Center that Zook could only dream of. Infrasteucture and financial resources are in place like never before.

And yes Zooker was following a legend. He also went 6-9 against our rivals (FSU, UT, UGA, LSU, Miami, Auburn). Never lost to UK, Vandy, or USCe.

I’m willing to give Napier time. I’ve simply watched too much Gator football to know that if he goes 6-7 again his seat will be hot.

Zac took over a good team. He recruited out of this world and still could not win. Napier took over the worst defense in the history of Florida. If Napier had Rex Grossman, a nd the roster that Zook had and recruited the same way, his seat would be hot already. Napier took over the worst roster we’ve had in 30 years. I don’t believe there’s a coach on the history of this planet that could’ve won 10 games with that roster.

It's a "bit" early for your thermonuclear meltdown. Relax and let this next season play out.

I don't think that's at all what I am saying or implying, theoretically. What I'm saying is that a player won't necessarily be ruined by a tough game or season. Can it happen? Yes. Is it a reason not to play them, no. It's part of the game. Tough games need to be followed up with good coaching support.
