Sometimes reality hurts. Right now looks like a 6-7 win season. Commits are hopes until they sign. Decommits all over the place. This season's playbook looks run heavy. That only works if the O-Line can block. Need to attend Alabama's advanced holding class w/no penalty.
That’s definitely not what I said. A good quarterback you have a very good running game here and the line here is not terrible. A good QB could make a good account of himself here, but we aren’t getting past Alabama and Georgia and making a playoff at this point. My point is that quarterbacks are looking for an easy pass to the playoff and exposure.
Mixed emotions on Mertz. Take away the fake sacks and he’s well over 300 yards and a couple of TD’s (no picks) in the O & B Game. On the other hand, he seemed late to throw on a number of occasions, whether due to indecisiveness, difficulty processing (said of Emory Jones) or whatever.
It was practice and not the real oline or gameplan. I don’t take too much from it but he didn’t look overwhelming good, that’s for sure.
I’m hoping for just a steady hand that takes what the defense gives him, make the simple plays and don’t self destruct.6-8 wins should be what we are looking at. If we get 8 wins, I’ll be happy. Haven’t said that ever.
The guy played off & on at Wisconsin with mixed results. He’s in a different offense, in a different conference, and he played inconsistent in a spring touch football game. And you *cough* declare that this one outing with his new team is a trend. That is both ridiculous and unfair. It’s also choosing to be self-destructive instead of giving benefit of the doubt. Damn sure glad I’m not poor Dugger.
What I want, realistically, from this season is just competent play on both sides of the ball. No short pass from QB directly to opposing CB. No third and 28 plays for our defense to end up giving a 40 yard pickup. Etc etc. If we win only seven games, but show general competence vs the last couple years then we are headed right direction and just need our new recruits grow into atarters.
It would be nice to see the same two things that I wanted to see last year: Steady improvement and continued reduction in bone-headed plays. I was excited and thought we were getting on schedule after the A&M and USCe game and then the team seemed to come totally unglued in all phases...uggghhh.
